Description

The Sous Chef assists in managing back-of-house operations in a fast-paced, full-service restaurant to ensure high food quality and profitability.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist in planning, preparing, and producing food according to standards
  2. Prepare food items within specified time limits following recipes
  3. Manage kitchen team including training, scheduling, and performance
  4. Assist with food purchasing, storage, and inventory management
  5. Control costs through portion control and waste minimization
  6. Inspect kitchen areas for quality, cleanliness, and safety standards
  7. Foster a positive team environment and promote high standards
  8. Maintain safety and sanitation standards
  9. Support other team members as needed
  10. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations
Qualifications
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Leadership experience in a kitchen setting
  • Knowledge of restaurant operations, food safety, and hygiene
  • Proficiency with kitchen equipment and management software
  • Ability to work evenings, holidays, and weekends
Minimum Requirements
  • Must be 21 or older
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • 1-2 years kitchen experience; 3-5 years preferred
  • Ability to pass background check
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degrees preferred
  • ServSafe or equivalent Food Safety certification
Physical Demands

This role requires standing for long periods, lifting up to 75 pounds, and working in a noisy, hot environment with exposure to hazards.
