Job description

Summary:

Provides healthcare imaging services to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Performs ultrasound procedures and related techniques to produce images for interpretation by or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Provides appropriate patient care across all age groups: newborn, infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.

Required Qualifications:
  • One to three years of experience preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic ultrasound procedures, equipment operation, radiation safety, positioning techniques, patient transfers, good communication skills, ability to handle multiple tasks/projects, ethical and professional conduct, and a good understanding of age-related developmental issues in pediatrics and geriatrics.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed, including on-call duties and weekend rotations. Interest in participating in the orientation and clinical education of student radiographers in accordance with clinical education center guidelines for radiologic technology programs.
Education:
  • Satisfactory completion of a formal ultrasound training program or equivalent training as specified by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
  • Current ARDMS registered certification with RDMS designation and/or current ARRT registered certification in Sonography with RT(S) designation.
  • For technologists primarily performing vascular sonography: current ARDMS certification in Vascular Technology (RVT), or current CCI certification as a Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS), or current ARRT certification in Vascular Sonography (RT(VS)).
  • Current BLS certification required.
