Job summary

thyssenkrupp is seeking a Safety Champion in Kyle, TX to support environmental health and safety initiatives on the warehouse floor. You will report to the Operational Manager and collaborate with the Corporate Safety Practitioner to drive continuous improvement and safety culture across plants and offices.

Key duties include coordinating EHS programs, leading investigations, collecting metrics, conducting audits, and delivering PIT training.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: 3+ years of safety training experience.
  • Ability to apply safety tools and problem-solving methods.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office.
  • Willing to travel up to 10%.
  • Safety mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the implementation of the environmental, health & safety program for the location.
  • Facilitate accidents/incidents investigations, guide root cause correction development, and submit required reports.
  • Collect and submit safety metrics data.
  • Conduct internal audits to identify unsafe conditions and behaviors.
  • Coordinate or conduct safety training with emphasis on PIT.
  • Identify opportunities to implement Best Safety practices and monitor their implementation.
  • Monitor status of corrective actions and safety initiatives; provide feedback to Leadership.
  • Conduct trend analysis and present focus areas to Leadership.
  • Facilitate safety committee meetings and internal communications on safety performance.
  • Coordinate environmental, health and safety surveillance by outside resources.
  • Work on the warehouse floor around heavy machinery.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities:

  • Coordinates the implementation of the environmental, health & safety program for the location
  • Facilitates accidents/incidents investigations, guides the team effort of root cause correction development; prepares and submits required incident reporting
  • Collects and submits safety metrics data
  • Conduct internal audits to identify unsafe & non‑compliance conditions and unsafe behaviors
  • Using provided training material, coordinates or conducts all environmental, health and safety training to all employees with emphasis on PIT (Powered industrial Truck).
  • Identifies opportunities to implement Best Safety practices; monitors their implementation
  • Responsible for monitoring the status of all corrective actions and safety initiatives; provides feedback to the Leadership team
  • Conducts trend analysis using historical inspections/observations and provides focus areas for the Leadership team
  • Facilitates safety committee meetings, two-way communication, and other communication mediums regarding safety performance, incidents, and other related data
  • Coordinates environmental, health and safety surveillance performed by outside resources
  • This is a position that works directly on the warehouse floor on or around heavy machinery.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3+ years experience within safety training.
  • Problem solving using safety tools & methodology
  • Understand critical tasks and work them through to completion
  • Systemic maintenance of records and task list
  • Demonstrated training facilitation skills
  • Team building – ability to involve employees and the leadership team in the process
  • Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical aptitude required to achieve root cause and recommend appropriate corrective actions
  • Excellent Computer skills – Power point, Excel, Word, Visio and Project
  • Travel up to 10%
  • Safety Mindset
Preferred Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Ability to interpreting regulatory requirements (OSHA) and apply them to the workplace
  • Use of regulatory requirements (OSHA) to assist in identifying unsafe behaviors and unsafe conditions in the workplace
  • Working knowledge of ergonomic principals and ability to perform ergonomic assessments
  • Knowledge of Behavior Based Safety concepts and ability to illicit the involvement of Leaders & employees in correcting undesirable behaviors
Job Compensation

Compensation up to $62,000 based on experience.
