Job summary

United Integrated Services (UIS) in North Phoenix is seeking a Safety Technician to uphold OSHA compliance and on-site safety controls for advanced semiconductor construction projects.

You will implement prevention plans, coordinate safety reporting, coach workers, and support investigations while collaborating with engineers, craftsmen, and project teams.

This onsite role requires a valid Arizona driver's license, strong English communication, and the ability to work in demanding environments.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years construction safety or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and site safety practices.
  • Experience coaching safety and investigating incidents.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and administer safety prevention plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure safety reports and documentation are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Provide safety technical expertise and support to assigned projects.
  • Promote safety through coaching and addressing safety concerns to prevent injury or damage.
  • Assist in investigating work-related injuries, illnesses, and near-miss incidents.
  • Enforce corrective action to prevent recurrence of hazards.
  • Conduct job site inspections and audits to assess compliance.
  • Act as liaison between the company and client on site safety.
  • Assist in identifying and mitigating safety hazards.

Summary

The Safety Technician will ensure project compliance with OSHA, company and jobsite safety policies and procedures and support Safety team initiatives to proactively promote safe workplace practices and prevent, mitigate, educate and resolve unsafe acts or conditions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Implement and administer safety prevention plans, policies, and procedures
  • Ensure that the company and client safety reports, statistics and supporting documentation are submitted in a timely manner
  • Provide safety technical expertise and support to assigned projects(s)
  • Promote safety, and safe work practices through coaching and proactively addressing any safety concerns that can result in potential injury or material damage
  • Assist in the investigation of work-related injuries, illnesses, and near-miss incidents
  • Enforce corrective action to prevent the recurrence of hazardous conditions or behaviors
  • Practice timely and accurate accident reporting
  • Review all accidents and investigation reports
  • Act as liaison between the company and client as it relates to site safety
  • Assist in identifying, correcting, and mitigating routine, and non-routine safety and health hazards
  • Council and coach craft workers to gain compliance with the accident prevention plans, policies and procedures
  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate potential safety health hazards
  • Conduct job site inspections and audits to establish and evaluate the level of compliance
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
Education/Experience
  • 2+ years construction safety or equivalent work experience.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong understanding of Construction safety practices and procedures.
  • OSHA30 Construction Certification, required. CPR/First Aid/AED certified a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to use engineering software, such as AutoCAD, Primavera, or others.
  • Ability to learn new job skills by engaging in the technical aspects of the job and applying new skills as they are taught or through on the job experience
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • High level of attention to detail, and highly organized.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities depending on project needs. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, and employees.
  • Ability to develop and maintain successful relationships with all levels of employees, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a professional attitude.
  • Ability to work in a construction site environment (trailer office).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to communicate in Mandarin, preferred.

Additional Requirements
  • Must have and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license. May be required to travel to other sites within Arizona to perform certain work functions.
Physical Demands
  • Frequently stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift heavier items with assistance or mechanical equipment.
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach to perform assigned tasks.
  • Use hands and fingers to handle, feel, grasp, and operate tools, equipment, or materials.
  • Perform repetitive motions involving the hands, wrists, and arms.
  • Climb ladders, stairs, or elevated surfaces as required by the job.
  • Maintain visual acuity sufficient to read labels, instructions, safety signage, and documentation.
  • Maintain balance and coordination while moving materials or operating equipment.
  • Ability to work in physically demanding environments requiring frequent movement and manual labor.
  • Exposure to dust, noise, vibration, and moving mechanical equipment.
  • Indoor and/or outdoor work environments, which may include varying temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Work in confined spaces, elevated areas, or active job sites, depending on project requirements.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, and high-visibility vests.
  • Interaction with powered industrial equipment, tools, and vehicles.
