Job summary

Generac in Jefferson, WI is seeking a Safety Tech to support site EHS programs on the manufacturing floor. You will work with the EHS site leader and cross-functional teams to prevent incidents and promote health and safety awareness.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, 6 months of manufacturing experience, knowledge of OSHA/EPA/DOT regulations, and strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Engage in floor safety needs such as incident response, safety coaching (limited), PPE distribution, ergonomic assessments, safety audits, pre-pros for altered products and or new product.
• Facilitate new hire orientation.
• Collect environmental compliance data as directing including but not limited to air monitoring, filter performance readings, and hazardous waste inspections.
• Monitor and archive inspection supplies for all in-house powered industrial trucks (PITs).
• Be the primary contact for Environmental, Health and Safety issues and/or concerns on the production floor.
• Post new emergency procedures, update SDS files, archive incident reports, and training documentation.
• Assist in emergency response(s) and communication.
• Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
