Job summary

Interface is seeking a Safety Coordinator/Instructor to support safety across manufacturing operations, develop training, deliver instruction, conduct audits, and help Interface advance its sustainability goals toward carbon negativity by 2040.

The role requires strong communication, classroom delivery skills for groups of any size, and hands‑on knowledge of manufacturing safety practices; a Bachelor's degree is preferred and OSHA training is expected.

Qualifications

  • Two or more years' experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Demonstrated classroom type instruction for delivery to any size group
  • Proven track record with safe work history
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing type jobs
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Excellent development and lecture presentation skills
  • Self-motivated to reduce risk across teams
  • Ability to coordinate with other departments on training
  • Learn OSHA regulations to train associates and audit
  • Demonstrate organizational skills
  • Able to become certified in safety & health

Responsibilities

  • Support Interface departments in safety functions as directed by Safety Leadership
  • Act as a department liaison with operators and line supervisors
  • Conduct audits of activities and documents as directed by Safety Leadership
  • Deliver training of health and safety topics
  • Use ISO training database to track regulatory training and maintain records
  • Audit performance vs. safe work practices and report findings
  • Assist in developing additional safety procedures and documents
  • Provide and/or conduct safety training materials
  • Assist with incident response, investigation and follow‑up
  • Monitor corrective/preventive actions and report progress
  • Assist with admin duties for safety programs
  • Develop improved compliance methods
  • Coach others on safe behaviors and Interface policies
  • Support Interface's sustainability commitments
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Safety Leadership

Position summary:

The Safety Coordinator/Instructor will provide consistent safety assistance through a variety of functions such as training development and delivery, providing safe instruction on operations, performing guided audits and inspections, maintaining records, and addressing associate concerns regarding safety and health.

Educational requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a Train-the-Trainer type program or willingness to successfully complete
  • Completion of an OSHA course or willingness to successful complete
Skills and experience:
  • Two or more years' experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Demonstrated skills in classroom type instruction for delivery of information to any size group as well as one‑on‑one type training.
  • Proven successful track record demonstrating an excellent, safe work history
  • Has working knowledge of manufacturing type jobs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent development and lecture presentation skills.
  • Must be self‑motivated to generate opportunities for the team to reduce exposure to risk and increase the same spirit in co‑workers in all departments.
  • Must be able to work with supervision in other departments to assist in the coordination of efforts to make sure associates are trained effectively and efficiently.
  • Have working knowledge of and ability to learn OSHA regulations in order to train associates and conduct audits.
  • Demonstrate effective organizational skills.
  • Able to become certified in safety & health certifications.
Essential duties:
  • Support Interface departments in safety functions as directed by Safety Leadership,
  • Act as a department liaison with operators and line supervisors,
  • Conduct audits of activities and documents as directed by Safety Leadership,
  • Effectively deliver training of health and safety topics,
  • Utilize the current ISO training database to track regulatory training required by job description, effectively enter information into database, and help supervision maintain training of all employees.
  • Audit job performance versus the standard safe work practices and report findings to Safety Leadership.
  • Assist in development of additional H&S compliance procedures & documents as needed.
  • Provide and / or conduct safety training material.
  • Assist with incident response, investigation and follow‑up.
  • Monitor the progress of Corrective/ Preventative actions from Health & Safety findings and report findings to Safety Leadership.
  • Assist with administrative type duties in support of the Safety Connections/ Safety Corrections/Critical Risk Surveys program.
  • Assist with the development of improved methods of compliance.
  • Comply with and coach others on all expected safe behaviors and practices.
  • Comply with Interface policies & procedures.
  • Understand and support Interface commitment to sustainability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Safety Leadership.
