Safety Supervisor Overview

Collaborating with site management and reporting to the Facilities Safety Manager, you'll play a vital role in safeguarding employees, colleagues, and the public. Position Summary

The Construction Safety Supervisor is responsible for implementing, enforcing, and continuously improving the company’s safety program on active construction sites. This role ensures compliance with OSHA, state, and local safety regulations while promoting a strong, proactive safety culture. The Safety Supervisor works closely with project management, superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, and workers to identify hazards, reduce risk, and prevent injuries and incidents.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Program Implementation

  • Enforce company safety policies, procedures, and site‑specific safety plans
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926, state regulations, and client safety requirements
  • Conduct daily safety inspections, audits, and job hazard analyses (JHAs/AHAs)
  • Verify corrective actions are implemented and documented

Field Oversight & Hazard Control

  • Identify unsafe acts and conditions and take immediate corrective action
  • Monitor high‑risk activities (fall protection, scaffolding, cranes, lifts, hot work, confined space, etc.)
  • Enforce Stop Work Authority when unsafe conditions exist
  • Ensure proper use of PPE, tools, equipment, and fall protection systems

Training & Communication

  • Conduct site safety orientations for new employees and subcontractors
  • Deliver toolbox talks, safety meetings, and task‑specific training
  • Support bilingual safety communication (English/Spanish as applicable)
  • Coach supervisors and workers on safe work practices
  • Respond to incidents, near misses, and safety concerns
  • Lead or support incident investigations and root‑cause analysis
  • Prepare incident reports and recommend preventive measures
  • Track safety metrics and trends
  • Work collaboratively with project management and field leadership
  • Interface with clients, inspectors, and regulatory agencies during site visits
  • Promote a positive safety culture through leadership, accountability, and engagement
  • Support emergency response planning and drills
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of construction safety experience (field‑based preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA construction standards (29 CFR 1926)
  • Experience with safety inspections, JHAs, and incident investigations
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
Preferred Certifications
  • OSHA 30‑Hour Construction OSHA 510 (required)
  • OSHA 500, CHST (preferred)
  • First Aid / CPR / AED
Physical & Work Requirements
  • Ability to work in active construction environments
  • Ability to walk jobsites, climb ladders/scaffolds, and work at heights
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Occasional travel to multiple job sites and schedule adaptation.
