The Safety Supervisor supports the Site Safety Director in implementing and maintaining all aspects of the company's health, safety, and environmental (HSE) program for steel mill construction projects. This position ensures that the job site remains in full compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, as well as company and client requirements. The Safety Supervisor plays a key role in promoting a proactive safety culture through engagement, communication, and field leadership.

  • Monitor field operations to verify compliance with OSHA standards and project-specific safety procedures.

  • Support field supervisors and foremen in developing and implementing task-specific Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).

  • Verify that subcontractors adhere to the site's Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) plan and conduct joint safety inspections when necessary.

Training and Communication

  • Conduct new hire safety orientations and ongoing training sessions for employees and subcontractors.

  • Ensure that all safety documentation complies with company and client requirements.

Collaboration and Leadership

  • Experience in steel mill, refinery, or manufacturing construction is strongly preferred.

  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required.

  • First Aid/CPR certification required.

  • CHST, STS, or equivalent professional safety credential preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Thorough understanding of OSHA standards, LOTO, fall protection, confined space entry, hot work, and crane/rigging operations.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to communicate safety expectations effectively across all levels of the workforce.

  • Competent with Microsoft Office Suite and safety management systems for documentation and reporting.

  • Ability to work independently in field conditions and adapt to a dynamic construction environment.

Work Environment

  • Field-based position on a new steel mill construction site.

  • Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions, construction noise, dust, and heavy machinery.

  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb ladders, and wear required PPE for extended periods.
