Job summary

Perdue Foods, part of Perdue Farms, seeks a Safety Supervisor for the 2nd shift in Accomac, VA to lead site safety programs and training. The role focuses on promoting a culture of safety, conducting JSA audits, incident investigations, and coordinating with site leadership.

The position includes a base salary of $68,000 to $102,000 per year with a potential annual bonus, plus a comprehensive benefits package; relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or Occupational Health & Safety (or current enrollment in a related degree).
• 3-5 years of operational safety experience within Perdue Farms' industrial safety organization.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-the-job training and safety program implementation across the facility.
• Educate facility leaders on safety principles and lead safety initiatives.
• Conduct daily JSA audits and report findings with corrective actions and retraining.
• Assist the Safety & Security Manager in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
• Attend safety meetings and provide safety perspectives for related gatherings.
• Assist the Safety & Security Manager by taking and posting meeting notes for safety committee meetings.
• Maintain oversight for operational safety leads and safety trainers on day and night shifts.
• Assist in Corporate Safety Audit and safety documentation.
• Support site security contractors and initiatives.
• Other duties as assigned by the Safety & Security Manager or Corporate Safety.

Summary

Join our team as a Safety Supervisor and play a key role in keeping our operations safe, compliant, and running strong. In this leadership role, you will guide and support plant safety efforts during an off shift or designated operational area, partnering closely with site leadership to promote a culture of safety. You will help drive safety training, support new associate ramp-in, and reinforce safe work practices across the facility, making a meaningful impact on associate well-being and overall operational performance.

The salary range for this position is $68,000 - $102,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications with annual bonus available (variable depending on performance).

This position is located onsite at our facility in Accomac, VA. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates to support a smooth and successful transition.

Schedule

Monday through Friday with weekend work as business needs dictate, general hours will be 12pm - 8pm

• Provide on-the-job training and follow-up on hazardous communication, safety, ergonomics, and other subjects with associates throughout the facility. This includes new associate orientation (whether directly hired or through a temp agency) as well as Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
• Educate facility associates, primarily salaried leaders, on safety principals and provide leadership, technical advice, and support to initiatives and projects which enhance safe efficient high-quality operations.
• Conduct daily JSA audits and report findings to safety and operations teams along with corrective actions and re-training that is needed.
• Assist Safety & Security (S&S) Manager in interviewing associates and gathering information on incidents and near misses and completed root cause analysis.
• Attend and provide safety perspectives for safety meetings, PSM meetings or any other safety-related meetings that occur.
• Assist the S&S Manager in responding to associates’ needs and concerns for safety issues as they arise.
• Assist the S&S Manager by taking & posting meeting notes for the safety committee meetings.
• Maintain oversight and training for operational safety leads (OSL) and safety trainers on day and night Shift.
• Assist in Corp Safety Audit and safety related documentation.
• Support the site security contractors and initiatives.
• Other duties as deemed necessary by the S&S Manager or Corporate Safety.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or Occupational Health & Safety or 3-5-years work experience in operational safety within Perdue Farms' industrial safety organization and current enrollment in an EH&S or safety related degree program.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Safety professional certification or 2-5 years' experience within manufacturing functioning as a Safety Manager.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors

• This position operates in a climate-controlled office environment.
• Must be able to communicate on the telephone and use standard office equipment.
• Must be able to move freely throughout the facility.
• Must be able to travel to remote Company and customer locations for audits and training.

When in plant environment

• Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
• May be exposed to temperatures of -10 degree to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
• May handle products 0 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
• May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.
• May be exposed to all chemicals found in poultry, food and processing plant.
• Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company
