Job summary

NPAworldwide seeks a Safety Superintendent to lead the site's Safety, Health, Security, and Emergency Response programs for a large chemical manufacturing complex. You will partner with plant operations, maintenance, engineering, and contractors to strengthen safety culture and ensure OSHA PSM compliance and regulatory standards.

The role drives continuous improvement through risk reduction, incident prevention, emergency preparedness, behavioral safety initiatives, and workforce training.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive safety leadership experience within an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations, process safety management, industrial hygiene, emergency response, hazardous materials management, ergonomics, workers' compensation, and incident investigation methodologies.
  • Experience developing and implementing site-wide safety management systems and emergency response programs.
  • Strong knowledge of risk assessment techniques, behavioral safety, and hazard recognition.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze safety data, develop KPIs, prepare presentations, and communicate effectively with hourly employees through executive leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the site's Safety, Health, Security, and Emergency Response programs across all operating areas.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety policies, procedures, and management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, state, local, and corporate safety requirements.
  • Partner with operations leadership to conduct process and behavioral hazard assessments and implement risk reduction strategies.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation.
  • Analyze safety performance metrics, identify trends, develop reports, and present recommendations to leadership.
  • Coordinate all required safety, emergency response, and regulatory training for employees and contractors.
  • Develop and conduct emergency response drills, skill development exercises, and emergency preparedness programs.
  • Oversee fire protection systems, breathing air systems, emergency response equipment, and related inspection programs.
  • Provide technical guidance regarding industrial hygiene, PPE selection, respiratory protection, chemical protective equipment, and hazardous material controls.
  • Support workers' compensation, industrial medical response, ergonomics, job hazard analysis, and industrial hygiene initiatives.
  • Foster a proactive safety culture through coaching, employee engagement, and behavioral safety programs.
  • Serve as an on-call safety resource during emergencies and support plant operations outside normal business hours as required.

  • Experience developing and implementing site-wide safety management systems and emergency response programs.
  • Strong knowledge of risk assessment techniques, behavioral safety, and hazard recognition.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze safety data, develop KPIs, prepare presentations, and communicate effectively with hourly employees through executive leadership.
  • Working knowledge of respiratory protection, chemical protective clothing, PPE selection, and industrial exposure controls.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, navigate industrial manufacturing environments, and perform field-based safety observations.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and respond during emergencies.
