Job summary

LJB Inc. in Charlotte, NC offers a Spring or Summer 2027 Structural Engineering Co-op and Internship. You will assist with structural design, analysis, and documentation, gaining exposure to both office and field work, including site visits and construction processes.

The role is open to students enrolled in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering programs who will be junior or senior, with prior internship experience preferred. U.S. citizenship is required to participate.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering degree at an accredited university.
• Must be entering junior or senior year of undergraduate study at the time of the co-op/intern.
• Prior academic or internship exposure to structural design is a plus.
• Must be able to travel to various project sites.
• U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with structural design, analysis, and documentation.
• Perform routine tasks under supervision following established standards and drawings.
• Gain exposure to both office-based and field-based work including site visits and construction processes.
• Support project teams with technical calculations and reports.
• Contribute to CAD and BIM drawings under guidance of senior engineers.

STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING CO-OP ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Assist with engineering tasks related to structural design, analysis, and documentation.
• Perform routine assignments under close supervision, following established standards, procedures, and drawings.
• Gain exposure to both office-based and field-based work, including design planning, site visits, and construction processes.
• Support project teams with technical calculations, reports, and documentation.
• Contribute to CAD and/or BIM drawings and sketches under the guidance of senior engineers.

STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING CO-OP ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:

• Education: Required: Currently enrolled in a Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering program at an accredited university.
• Required: Must be entering junior or senior year of undergraduate studies at the time of the co-op.
• Qualifications: Prior academic or internship experience with structural design projects preferred.
• Must be able to travel to various project sites.
• Required: U.S. citizenship
• Physical: Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
• Capable of lifting up to 15 pounds occasionally.
• Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas
