Safety Specialist (Plant Wansley Station)

Founded in 1960 by Rudy Gerbus and his brother, Gerbus Bros Construction initially specialized in mass earth moving. In the 1970s, our expertise led us to partner with local power plants to address the environmental challenges of fly ash management. This collaboration gave birth to Trans Ash.

At Trans Ash, we are committed to providing innovative and environmentally responsible solutions for handling fly ash. We specialize in creating lined landfills that safely contain processed ash, ensuring the highest standards of environmental safety for our energy clients.

Pay Information

$85,000- $115,000 / Year

Schedule

Job Summary:

The Site Safety Specialist ensures compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations by administering training programs and investigating incidents. They make safety recommendations, prepare reports, and audits with the goal to foster positive relationships with customers and promote the company's safety program.

Essential Functions:

  • Administer employee training programs.
  • Makes environmental, health, and safety recommendations.
  • Ensures compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses. Writes reports with findings.
  • Evaluate current best practices and then prepare reports and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop relationships with our customers at the local and corporate levels to promote and incorporate the company’s safety program.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

Experience:

  • 5-10 years of experience as a dedicated safety professional.
  • Prior DOT Compliance experience is a plus.
  • Prior heavy civil construction experience.

Skills:

  • Strong written, verbal communications and teaching skills.
  • Knowledge of job safety analysis, job instructions training, and ability to write Site Specific Safety Plans and job hazard analysis (JHA’s).
  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft programs such as excel, outlook, powerpoint.

Education/ Certifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 4-year Degree In Environmental, Health, and Safety is a plus.
  • Safety Professional designation and/or OSHA 500/510 Certifications preferred.

Other Information:

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, lifting.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb, operate vehicles and small equipment.
  • Must be able to work in a construction environment including possible inclement weather.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a drug test (including THC), MVR, and background check.
