Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Company LP’s St. Paul Park refinery is seeking a Personal Safety Professional to serve as the primary safety resource for an operations area team.

The role emphasizes regulatory interpretation, safety training, audits, and corrective actions to maintain a safe work environment. The candidate will lead safety programs, review permits and work-control processes, investigate incidents, and collaborate with Operations and Learning & Development to deliver effective safety

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required with 2 years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree in HES related field with no relevant experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn additional software (PowerBI, Survey Gizmo, Forms).
• Working knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements.
• Ability to identify safety hazards and work as an independent problem solver.
• Capable of managing conflict in the work environment.
• Valid driver's license and TWIC license required on hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical safety support for operations, projects, turnarounds, construction, and emergency response.
• Serve as the primary safety resource for assigned operations areas.
• Assess safety risks and develop mitigation plans for identified hazards.
• Develop and implement safety programs and procedures.
• Serve as SME for assigned safety programs and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct field and program audits to verify compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
• Lead investigations of near-misses, incidents, and injuries; track corrective actions.
• Review permits, LOTO, and work-control processes to identify deficiencies and drive improvements.
• Provide safety input into projects, MOC, work plans, and operating procedures.
• Develop and deliver safety training and communications with Operations and Learning & Development.
• Partner with contractors to communicate safety expectations and support MPC safety objectives.
• Collaborate with employees and supervisors to identify hazards and complete work safely.
• Support refinery emergency response as part of the Incident Command structure.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, regulatory requirements, and MPC standards.
• Participate in rotational on-call duties, including weekends and holidays.
