Overview
The Safety Specialist is responsible for safety-related activities to ensure a safe environment for employees, patients, and visitors while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulatory and accreditation agencies. The Safety Specialist will conduct safety (Environment of Care) rounds to monitor the physical environment, communicate safety issues with the Mobile Health Service Manager, and work to provide solutions for correcting those issues. The Safety Specialist will develop, review, and participate in safety training, present safety in-services, conduct safety surveys, fire drills, and emergency preparedness drills, monitor safety-related accidents, and conduct follow-up investigations in conjunction with the Mobile Health Service Manager.
The Safety Specialist is also responsible for being a primary driver for the Mobile Units in McLean County, assisting with driving in other counties where Mobile Service operates, and overseeing driving records of other mobile unit drivers to ensure safe vehicle operation by qualified and licensed drivers. Additionally, the Safety Specialist will participate in and assist with maintenance and upkeep of the Mobile Health Clinic vehicle. They will also assist with patient care as staffing requires, such as Patient Service Representative (PSR) and Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) duties. Once trained as a PSR and CMA, this employee will coordinate and participate in duties related to clinic preparation, patient check-in/out, charge posting, appointment scheduling, and direct patient care. They will also maintain patient care supplies, ensure timely patient flow, and support the healthcare team to provide optimal patient and family care, conveying a positive image and providing necessary information.
