Turkey Hill in Searcy, Arkansas, is seeking a Safety Specialist 2 to support our safety goals by developing and auditing safety programs across the plant. This role emphasizes GMP, FSMA compliance, and safe operations in a manufacturing environment.

You will create training, audit programs, respond to incidents, perform basic industrial hygiene tests, and work with cross-functional teams to drive improvements that protect employees and customers.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• College degree preferred, or in lieu of, NSI or OSHA certifications.
• Five years of manufacturing experience, with food processing preferred.
• Previous office experience preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the company’s safety training programs.
• Audit multi-faceted programs, such as the hearing conservation program.
• Respond effectively to emergencies and incidents (fires, spills, near misses, etc.).
• Perform basic industrial hygiene tests, such as a noise meter.
• Conduct gap analyses to identify root causes and drive improvements.
• Ensure compliance with GMP, FSMA, and safety regulations.
• Support Safe Quality Foods (SQF) Food Safety & Quality initiatives.
• Engage cross-functional teams to define and implement process improvements.

The Safety Specialist 2 makes an impact by –

The Safety Specialist 2 position supports the company’s safety goals by developing and auditing the company safety programs.

• Responsible to develop and implement the company’s safety training programs.
• Responsible to audit multi-faceted programs, such as the hearing conservation program, that requires knowledge and action in several different areas.
• Respond effectively and appropriately in all emergency situations and incidents (fires, spills, near misses, etc.).
• Be able to perform basic industrial hygiene tests, such as a noise meter.
• Must be able to perform gap analysis on all safety related situations to ensure the proper root cause.
• Perform all duties in compliance with all corporate and regulatory quality, GLP, and safety regulations.
• Perform all duties within established Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and FSMA guidelines as well as all safety regulations.
• Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the Safe Quality Foods (SQF) Food Safety & Quality.
• Demonstrate the ability to engage work in department and cross-functional teams to define and implement process improvements that provide value to the customer.
• Be accountable to the Turkey Hill Food Safety and Quality Principles.
• Perform all other duties as assigned

Physical Demands -

• The employee is required to talk and/or hear in an office setting (noise level is low) and manufacturing setting where noise levels can be high (PPE required).
• The employee is frequently required to stand and walk in an office or manufacturing environment from 4-8+ hours.
• The employee must be able to ascend and descend stairs, and where applicable and when necessary, to perform various job-related tasks
• Must be able to position self to move, reach with arms/hands, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed to perform various job-related tasks
• The employee must be able to inspect all job-related equipment (office or floor) to ensure it is in good working condition prior to use. Must be able to use hands/fingers to handle (or feel) to operate various types of office equipment.
• Must be able to operate all job-related equipment (powered, hand or office) as required
• Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception and adjust focus
• Ability to lift 20 pounds and/or push/pull 20 pounds on a regular or occasional basis
• Must have ability to travel to clients, customers, or other work sites by a variety of transportation methods.
