Job summary

Strada Services is seeking a Safety Specialist to assist the Safety Manager in overseeing safety and risk management across multiple locations. This role will assess on-site safety requirements for electrical, HVAC, security, and service personnel, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Responsibilities include reviewing policies, conducting safety training, identifying risks, and contributing to the implementation of the Safety Program to mitigate workplace hazards.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience in a health or safety-related field.
  • OSHA 30 certification is required; candidates with OSHA 10 and a commitment to obtain OSHA 30 within 60 days of hire will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries across locations.
  • Travel regularly to remote shops and job sites for monthly safety training and meetings.
  • Ensures timely completion of OSHA documentation (OSHA 300, 300A, etc.).
  • Evaluates and revises safety training programs to stay current.
  • Reviews accident and incident reports to identify causes and preventive actions.

Duties/Responsibilities


  • Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health issues across all locations.

  • Travel regularly to remote shops and job sites to conduct monthly employee training and safety meetings, addressing applicable safety standards and reviewing company accident and injury trends.

  • Ensures timely completion of all required OSHA documentation (OSHA 300, 300A, etc.).

  • Evaluates and revises safety training programs to keep them up to date and relevant.

  • Conducts safety inspections and audits at remote shops, warehouses, and job sites to ensure compliance with safety protocols.

  • Assists the Safety Manager in conducting driver's license/MVR reviews to verify the eligibility of employees to operate company vehicles and maintains up-to-date records of driver status.

  • Inspects and recommends replacements for worn or outdated safety equipment.

  • Assists in developing and reviewing internal safety standards and policies, and exercises stop-work authority to halt unsafe activities and maintain a safe work environment.

  • Reviews accident and incident reports, analyzing them to determine causes and recommending improvements to prevent future occurrences.

  • Monitors fleet safety telematics data (e.g., driving behavior, device alerts) and escalates findings to the Safety Manager.

  • Assists the Safety Manager with incident investigations, including root cause analysis.

  • Assists the Safety Manager with workers' compensation claims and related documentation.

  • Assists the Safety Manager in maintaining the PPE program and hazard communication (SDS) files.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities


  • Extensive knowledge of company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and best practices in safety management.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver presentations and training to a variety of audiences.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships with employees and management at all levels.

  • Ability to effectively teach, coach, and counsel employees on safety protocols and procedures.

  • Valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR).

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate leadership in safety initiatives.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

  • Experience with fleet telematics systems (e.g., Samsara) is a plus.


Education And Experience


  • 1-3 years of experience in a health or safety-related field.

  • OSHA 30 certification required; candidates with OSHA 10 and a commitment to obtain OSHA 30 within 60 days of hire will be considered.

  • At least one year of experience in the construction industry is preferred.


Physical Requirements


  • Must be able to travel regularly to various facilities for safety inspections, audits, and training sessions.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, or driving long distances to shop locations for meetings and site visits.

  • Ability to lift 25+ pounds as needed.

  • Overnight travel may be required for several nights per month.
