How You Will Make an Impact
The EHS Safety Specialist is responsible for ensuring that the organization adheres to environmental, health, and safety regulations and standards. This role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring EHS programs and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant workplace. The EHS Safety Specialist will conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and training sessions, and work to foster a culture of safety within the organization.
Regulatory Compliance:
· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations and standards.
· Monitor changes in EHS regulations and update policies and procedures accordingly.
Safety Programs and Procedures:
· Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs and procedures to promote a safe and healthy work environment.
· Conduct regular reviews and updates of EHS policies to ensure they meet regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Risk Assessment and Management:
· Perform risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and evaluate risk levels.
· Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks and prevent accidents or incidents.
Training and Awareness:
· Design and deliver EHS training programs for employees, including safety protocols, emergency response procedures, and hazard recognition.
· Promote safety awareness and encourage a proactive safety culture across the organization.
Incident Investigation and Reporting:
· Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
· Prepare and submit reports on incidents, safety performance, and compliance to management and regulatory agencies.
Emergency Preparedness:
· Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures, including evacuation plans and crisis management protocols.
· Conduct drills and exercises to ensure preparedness for emergency situations.
Documentation and Record-Keeping:
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of safety inspections, incident reports, training sessions, and compliance documentation.
· Ensure proper documentation and reporting of EHS activities and performance metrics.
Continuous Improvement:
· Evaluate the effectiveness of EHS programs and procedures and identify opportunities for improvement.
· Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety performance and operational efficiency.
Stakeholder Engagement:
· Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including management, employees, and safety committees, to address EHS concerns and promote best practices.
· Liaise with external agencies, such as OSHA or environmental regulatory bodies, as needed.
What You Will Bring
· Proven experience in EHS management or safety roles, with a strong understanding of safety regulations and standards.· Excellent knowledge of EHS principles, risk assessment techniques, and emergency response procedures.
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
· Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field; certification (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP),
· Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST)) preferred.
· Proficiency in EHS management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
What We Offer
The range for this position is: $75,000-$85,000
