Job summary

Garney Construction is seeking a Safety Specialist to support the implementation of jobsite safety programs, promote safety culture, and ensure OSHA compliance on projects. The role involves training, inspections, hazard identification, and proactive incident prevention while serving as a field safety resource for employees and leadership.

The candidate will develop safe work plans, conduct site briefings, and maintain safety records, with emphasis on proactive safety and incident prevention

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; associate degree preferred.
• 2+ years construction experience and 1+ year in safety role (3+ years preferred).
• Knowledge of OSHA 1926 standards and construction safety practices.
• Strong communication, organization, and training skills.
• Ability to identify risks, make decisions, and take proactive action.
• Required: OSHA 30, 500, EM385, CHST, or equivalent; CPR/First Aid Trainer; OSHA 510 within 6 months.
• Preferred: OSHA 500, CHST, or other safety certifications.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

A Safety Specialist position is available at Garney. The Safety Specialist supports the implementation and execution of jobsite safety programs to ensure a safe work environment. This role promotes safety culture through training, inspections, hazard identification, and employee engagement while ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies. The position serves as a field safety resource responsible for education, guidance, and proactive incident prevention.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
