Job summary

Patagonia is seeking a Safety & Security Specialist for the Reno, NV location. This weekend shift role runs Saturdays and Sundays from 6:00am to 6:00pm, with a compensation rate of $24/hour.

The individual will monitor sites, respond to incidents, control access, and collaborate with staff to maintain a safe environment. The ideal candidate possesses strong communication, adaptability, and integrity, with experience in physical security and the ability to obtain Nevada PILB Guard Card and 1st

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years in security, law enforcement, or emergency response coordination.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver’s license expected.
  • Ability to obtain Nevada PILB Guard Card.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and patrol multiple sites on foot or bike, check for hazards.
  • Respond to incidents including injuries, medical emergencies, fires, threats, or suspicious activity.
  • Observe, report, and document activities and incidents.
  • Control and monitor access to buildings and facilities.
  • Prepare logs and reports accurately when needed.
  • Collaborate with security personnel, management, staff, and visitors; follow safety policies and laws.

Safety & Security Specialist, Weekend Shift Team: Safety and Security

Reports To: Safety and Security Manager

Location: Reno, NV

Schedule: Saturday and Sunday, 6:00am – 6:00pm

Compensation rate: $24/hour

Patagonia is looking for an experienced, compassionate, highly motivated individual to assist in all areas of Safety & Security. This is a new role that must embody Patagonia’s unique culture and demonstrate an open and inclusive approach to making sure everyone who has contact with Patagonia feels safe and welcome. Success will require a demonstrated commitment to ensuring Patagonia consistently offers a just and equitable work environment, whether on site at the Ventura locations or while working remotely.

What You’ll Do/Job Functions
  • Monitors & patrols multiple sites on foot and/or bicycle, checks for unsafe conditions, hazards etc.
  • Responds to incidents of work‑related injury, medical emergency, fire, threats, suspicious activity etc.
  • Observe and report activities and incidents.
  • Controls & monitors access into all buildings.
  • Prepare accurate logs and reports as needed.
  • Works closely with other security personnel, management, employees & visitors.
  • Learn and understand basic OSHA and Fire laws.
  • More specific duties will be discussed during interview process.

Experience You Bring/Job Requirements
  • 2+ years combined experience in physical security, law enforcement, military, community outreach, customer service and/or emergency response coordination.
  • Be at least 18 years of age with at least a high school education or equivalent (GED).
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing racial justice and equity.

  • Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with all levels of personnel, co‑workers, and the public in a professional and effective manner.

  • Ability to pass and maintain 1st Aid, CPR & AED certifications.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time and lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to learn, understand and apply basic OSHA and Fire laws.
  • Basic computer skills & knowledge (Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Zoom).
  • Knowledge & understanding of CCTV systems.
  • Knowledge & understanding of access control systems (Brivo).
Physical Requirements

Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and/or abilities. To perform this job successfully, the incumbent will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently. Some requirements may exclude individuals who pose a direct threat or significant risk to the health and safety of themselves, other associates, or guests.

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly and carry for up to 50 feet.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Bending, lifting, and chopping repetitively throughout the day.
  • Ability to work in a small physical space that can be loud at times.
Schedule

This position requires 12‑hour shifts, Saturday and Sunday. Also looking for someone who is flexible to help cover extra shifts when needed.
