Safety & Security Manager

Glenmont Job Corps Center | Lead With Confidence. Protect Our Community. Make an Impact.

Are you an experienced safety, security, military, or law enforcement professional ready to bring your leadership skills into a role with purpose? Do you know how to stay calm under pressure, lead a team, investigate incidents, identify potential risks, and create an environment where people feel safe?

Glenmont Job Corps Center is looking for an experienced Safety & Security Manager to lead our Safety & Security Department. This is more than a traditional security position. As the Safety & Security Manager, you'll oversee the people, procedures, and programs that help keep our students, employees, visitors, buildings, and campus safe. Think of this role as a combination of department leader, safety professional, investigator, trainer, problem-solver, and student advocate.

What Does the Safety & Security Manager Do?

Simply put: You help keep the entire Center safe, prepared, and accountable. You'll lead our Safety & Security team while overseeing day-to-day security operations, accident prevention, incident response, investigations, OSHA compliance, safety inspections, visitor procedures, and student accountability. You'll also work closely with Center leadership and other departments to identify concerns before they become larger problems.

Lead the Safety & Security Team
  • Providing daily leadership and direction
  • Coordinating staff schedules and coverage
  • Training and developing employees
  • Evaluating employee performance
  • Recognizing strong performance
  • Addressing performance concerns
  • Participating in interviewing and hiring
  • Handling appropriate corrective action
  • Maintaining adequate coverage throughout the Center

Your goal is to develop a professional, dependable, well-trained team that knows how to respond appropriately when situations arise.

  • Helping maintain student accountability
  • Identifying safety concerns throughout buildings and grounds
  • Identifying hazards before they lead to accidents
  • Making sure safety concerns are documented and corrected
  • Supporting OSHA and workplace safety requirements
Oversee the Center's Environmental Health Program

You'll regularly ask: What could potentially go wrong here—and what can we do now to prevent it?

Investigate Incidents & Find Solutions

When an accident, safety concern, or serious incident occurs, you'll help determine what happened, why it happened, and what needs to happen next. You'll:

  • Conduct student and staff-related investigations
  • Interview individuals involved in incidents
  • Gather and review relevant information
  • Document findings
  • Complete required incident and accident reports
  • Track follow-up actions
  • Identify patterns or recurring concerns

Manage Safety Compliance & Reporting

This role also oversees important administrative and compliance responsibilities. You'll help ensure Glenmont Job Corps follows applicable Department of Labor, Job Corps, company, OSHA, and Center safety requirements. Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining required safety documentation
  • Coordinating OSHA compliance efforts
  • Reviewing and analyzing safety and security data
  • Managing Significant Incident Report follow-up
  • Preparing required reports and annual safety plans
  • Coordinating the Center Safety Committee
