Job summary

The Town of Apex is seeking a Safety Specialist to support safety programs, lead training, coordinate health efforts, and oversee OSHA compliance. This role blends field work and program administration to foster a safe environment for all Town employees.

You will administer safety and risk activities within the Human Resources team, reporting to the Safety & Risk Manager, and collaborate on accident investigations and wellness initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or combination of education and experience in safety preferred.
• At least 1 year experience working in workplace safety programs.

Responsibilities

• Administers safety and risk programs and supports Safety and Risk Manager.
• Coordinates occupational health efforts, training, and awareness initiatives.
• Oversees OSHA reporting and compliance, and workers’ compensation matters.
• Coordinates drug testing and on-site safety activities as needed.
• Investigates accidents and recommends corrective actions.
