Job summary

Sentara Health is seeking a Safety Partner for Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA. The role supports the Nursing Resource Pool across units, with a 7:00am–7:00pm day shift and flexible timing.

This position aims to maintain a safe hospital environment for patients at risk of various behaviors, promoting patient safety and quality care. The Safety Partner will float to units as needed, participate in training, and contribute to a comprehensive safety program within a major teaching

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or Equivalent.
• Prior healthcare experience or enrollment in a health science program strongly preferred.
• Applicants without prior experience or current health sciences program status must complete a Sentara Safety Partner Training Course during orientation.
• Core competencies include communication, confidentiality, de-escalation, fall prevention, patient safety, restraints, stroke, and suicide.
• BLS required within 90 days of hire.
• De-escalation and physical intervention training within 30 days of hire (15 days for Behavioral Health).

Responsibilities

• Assist with the provision of a safe hospital environment for patients at risk of suicide, falls, wandering, agitation, impulsiveness, self-harm or other risk behaviors.
• Float to units within the Nursing Resource Pool to meet Safety Partner needs and support patient safety.

Overview: Sentara is currently hiring a Safety Partner to work at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in the Nursing Resource Pool. Hours/Shift: 7:00am to 7:00pm – Flexible time, Days Department/Position Overview: The Resource Pool at Norfolk General floats to units with additional Safety Partner needs. We are seeking candidates who are interested in a variety of units & interested in learning new skills. Premium divisional shift differential! As a Safety Partner with Sentara, you will assist with the provision of a safe hospital environment conducive to individualized patient care for patients at risk of suicide, falls, wandering, agitation, impulsiveness, self-harm or other risk behaviors enabling patients to maintain or enhance function during the hospital stay.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or Equivalent
• Prior healthcare experience or enrollment in a health science program strongly preferred.

Compensation

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $17.82 - $25.65 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
