Job summary

Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital's Emergency Department is seeking a Safety Partner to help maintain a safe hospital environment for patients at risk of suicide, falls, wandering and other behaviors. The role is part-time (24 hours) on Days, Mon/Tues 7a–7p, in a 41-bed Level III Trauma ED with a busy, multidisciplinary team. BLS within 90 days of hire; healthcare experience preferred. Base pay $17.82–$25.65 hourly plus benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior healthcare experience preferred.
• BLS within 90 days of hire required.

Shift:

Part-Time (24hs) Days - Mon/Tues - 7a to 7p

Unit Description:

This is a 41-bed Level III Trauma ED with 6 beds dedicated to a lock down psychiatric screening and treatment area. We are a stroke certified ED and receive STEMI and psychiatric patients. The ED treats about 150 patients per day with a dedicated radiology suite in the ED for plain film and CT imaging. We have a diverse nursing and ED Tech team.

Job Description:

Assists with the provision of a safe hospital environment conducive to individualized patient care for patients at risk of suicide, falls, wandering, agitation, impulsiveness, self-harm or other risk behaviors enabling patients to maintain or enhance function during the hospital stay.

Education:

• High School Grad or Equivalent

Certification/Licensure:

• BLS required within 90 days of hire.

Experience:

• Prior healthcare experience or enrollment in a health sciences program strongly preferred.
• Background with mental health/behavioral health is a plus!
• Core competencies for all safety partners to include communication, confidentiality, de-escalation, fall prevention, patient safety, restraints, stroke, and suicide.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $17.82 - $25.65 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
