Job summary

Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital’s Emergency Department seeks a Safety Partner for a 36-hour/week daytime shift (Wed/Fri/Sat). The role focuses on providing a safe environment for patients at risk of suicide, falls, wandering, agitation, and self-harm, with emphasis on de-escalation and stroke safety.

Requirements include a high school diploma and BLS within 90 days. Prior healthcare experience and mental health exposure are preferred; multiple comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Prior healthcare experience or enrollment in health sciences preferred.
• Mental health/behavioral health background is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with providing a safe hospital environment for patients at risk of suicide, falls, wandering, agitation, or self-harm.
• Support de-escalation, restraints, and safety procedures to maintain patient function during the stay.
• Contribute to stroke and overall patient safety in the ED.

City/StateVirginia Beach, VAWork ShiftFirst (Days)Overview:Sentara Virginia Beach GH Emergency Department is hiring a Safety Partner to join their team!Shift: Full-Time (36hrs) - Days (Wed/Th/Fri) - 7a-7pUnit Description:This is a 41-bed Level III Trauma ED with 6 beds dedicated to a lock down psychiatric screening and treatment area. We are a stroke certified ED and receive STEMI and psychiatric patients. The ED treats about 150 patients per day with a dedicated radiology suite in the ED for plain film and CT imaging.
