Job summary

LG Energy Solution in Phoenix, AZ is hiring a Safety Operator to monitor daily field operations, enforce safety procedures, and identify hazards on site. You will work with the EH&S team to conduct inspections, verify permits, and help maintain a safe workplace for employees and contractors.

The role requires a high school diploma (GED acceptable), 1–3+ years of safety experience, OSHA-30, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree in a technical or safety-related field is a plus.
• OSHA-30 Hour (General Industry or Construction) required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct continuous field-level safety inspections and walkthroughs across active manufacturing and construction areas.
• Verify Permit-to-Work (PTW) requirements and safety controls for high-risk tasks.
• Monitor adherence to site safety rules and proper PPE usage.
• Exercise Stop Work Authority for imminent dangers or safety violations.
• Log and report daily unsafe conditions, near-misses, and unsafe acts to EHS Leadership.
• Assist with site safety orientation, Toolbox Talks, and emergency response support.
• Deliver and support safety training for employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Communicate safety concerns to leadership and stakeholders.
• Support incident investigations and corrective action implementation.
• Assist with new hire orientation and contractor safety management.
• Perform workplace inspections, audits, and compliance evaluations.
• Maintain 5S3R standards on site.

Summary:

As a Safety Operator, you will be a dedicated, on-the-ground presence responsible for monitoring daily field operations, ensuring compliance with safety procedures, and identifying workplace hazards. Working closely with the site EH&S team, you will conduct daily inspections, verify work permits, and help maintain a safe working environment for all employees and contractors.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct continuous field-level safety inspections and walkthroughs across active manufacturing/construction areas
• Verify Permit-to-Work (PTW) requirements and safety controls for high-risk tasks (LOTO, Confined Space, Hot Work, Heights)
• Monitor employee and contractor adherence to site safety rules, including proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage
• Exercise immediate Stop Work Authority (SWA) when imminent dangers or severe safety violations are observed
• Log, document, and report daily unsafe conditions, near-misses, and unsafe acts to EHS Leadership
• Assist with site safety orientation, Toolbox Talks (TBT), and emergency response support as needed
• Deliver and support safety training for employees, contractors, and visitors
• Ensure timely communication and escalation of safety concerns to leadership and appropriate stakeholders
• Support emergency preparedness activities, drills, response planning, and post-event critiques
• Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective action implementation, and effectiveness verification
• Assist with new hire orientation, contractor safety management, and other Health & Safety training programs
• Conduct workplace inspections, compliance evaluations, and audits to ensure adherence to applicable regulations and standards
• Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards:
  • Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain
  • Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Associate degree in a technical or safety-related field is a plus

Experience:

• 1 to 3+ years of hands‑on experience in manufacturing, construction, or industrial safety field observation
• OSHA-30 Hour (General Industry or Construction) required
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification and Safety training (NFPA, HAZMAT, HAZWOPER, MEWP) preferred
