Job Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Safety Officer to join our reclamation project team for a fixed-term assignment. The Safety Officer will be responsible for monitoring and enforcing safety compliance on-site, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a safe working environment for all personnel involved in the marine and land reclamation works.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor site operations to ensure compliance with statutory and company safety regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessments specific to reclamation works.
- Advise site teams on safety measures related to dredging, sand filling, slope stabilization, and coastal protection.
- Ensure proper implementation of Safe Work Procedures (SWPs), Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems.
- Lead toolbox meetings, safety drills, and site inductions for all site personnel and subcontractors.
- Maintain safety records, incident reports, near-miss logs, and prepare weekly/monthly safety reports for the management team.
- Liaise with relevant authorities (e.g., DOSH, BCA, MOM) and support audits or inspections.
- Recommend and follow up on corrective/preventive actions from safety observations and incidents.
- Promote a positive safety culture and actively participate in safety campaigns and programs.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Workplace Safety & Health, Environmental Health, or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in construction, marine, or reclamation projects.
- Recognized certification such as NEBOSH, SSSC (for Singapore), or SHO (for Malaysia) preferred.
- Familiar with environmental and safety compliance related to marine works and coastal infrastructure.
- Good understanding of local safety regulations and reporting practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage multi-national teams and contractors.
- Physically fit and willing to work on-site in outdoor and marine conditions.
