SUMMARY

The Safety Net Coordinator facilitates Safety Net programming focused on keeping pets in their homes and out of shelters This position serves as a primary point of contact for individuals seeking assistance through the Safety Net program and provides clear information and support regarding available services The Safety Net Coordinator works collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to support intake prevention efforts and the overall mission of Peggy Adams Safety Net initiatives This position is also responsible receiving sorting organizing and dispersing in kind donations maintaining partnerships with human service agencies humane and animal welfare groups and other organizations to support Peggy Adams Safety Net program efforts

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Interface with clients in a diplomatic and tactful manner to assist them with all aspects of Peggy Adams programs and services
  • Enters animal and people records in shelters software
  • Understands and utilizes organizations programs and services to keep pets in their homes whenever possible eg Peggys pantry spayneuter wellness clinic TNVR etc
  • Handles phone calls and emails from clients or when appropriate transfers them to the appropriate department
  • Assists walk in clients based on individual situation pets welfare and shelters capacity for care
  • Maintains and updates the Safety Net clinic surgery and foster calendar for all appointments
  • Schedules appointments for clients as needed
  • Follows Safety Net program standard operating procedures protocols and policies
  • Maintains and nurtures new and old relationships with community partners
  • Maintains other needed resources related to community need such as mental health substance abuse legal assistance with housing and benefits applications distribution of health and hygiene supplies and transportation assistance
  • Monitors and maintains records pertaining to the Safety Net program operations
  • Inventory handling counting ordering restocking and organizing
  • Provides accurate and timely answers to questions regarding services and programs at Peggy Adams
  • Works together with Pet Resource Coordinators in coordinating assistance to Safety Net Clients
  • Assists with checking clients in and out for surgery and clinic
  • Interfaces and cooperates with other departments within Peggy Adams
  • Accepts payments for services rendered
  • Understands and embraces the Pets for Life model to provide compassionate and tactful services for the community
  • Picks up and delivers supplies or pets as needed
  • Collects sorts organizes and disperses in kind donations
  • Point of contact for external agencies groups and individuals donating items
  • Determines suitability of donations for intended use and disposes of unusable items
  • Assists with donation pickups and drop offs as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must provide accurate information to the public
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and phone etiquette
  • High level ability to multi task organize and perform detailed tasks efficiently and with accuracy
  • Must adhere to the companys dress code
  • Ability to diffuse negative client situations and foster client bonding
  • Must have the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with the public
  • Detailed knowledge of applicable office skills
  • Ensures a clean safe and operational work area
  • Ability to work with dogs and cats of all breeds sizes and temperaments
  • Must embrace volunteerism emphasizing the importance of volunteers in all aspects of medical Safety Net programs
  • Assists with other departmental needs as directed by management
  • Must support the Animal Rescue Leagues mission policies and practices
  • Ability to work independently demonstrate initiative and to complete and report on projects
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality diplomacy and tact
  • Ability to work under pressure set priorities and meet deadline
  • Must possess a valid Florida drivers license with driving record acceptable to be added onto company vehicle insurance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • One year of related experience andor training involving social work human services or customer service
  • One year of related experience andor training involving veterinary clinic or animal shelter
  • Thrift store experience or previous experience in sorting large volumes of donations
  • Possess valid driver license with driving record acceptable to be insured by our carrier
  • Bilingual a plus
EDUCATION andor EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Computer skills include accessing databases checking company email etc
  • Working knowledge of Outlook Word Excel
  • Bilingual a plus
