Job summary

Messer Construction Co. in Raleigh is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead field safety programs across the region. You will plan, implement and monitor safety policies, provide training, and partner with project teams to reduce risk on site.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years of construction safety leadership, OSHA/EPA/DOT knowledge, and strong communication skills. This full-time role reports to the EHS Department and offers an employee-owned environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or related field.
• 5+ years of leadership experience in construction safety.
• Practical knowledge of OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations.
• Experience delivering employee safety training.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Understand project schedules for risk planning.
• Develop and manage relationships with project teams, regional leadership and safety peers.
• Create regional safety action plans to improve performance.
• Maintain a consistent on-site presence with timely response to questions.
• Ensure clear communications and timely delivery of internal safety projects.
• Collaborate with PM teams on job-site safety planning, trainings, inspections, and incident investigations.

We are currently seeking an experienced, self-starter, goal oriented, candidate to fill the role of Safety Manager in our Raleigh Region . This position is part of the Messer Environmental, Health and Safety Department, and supports the Messer projects and personnel with safety inspections, project planning, employee training, and other safety and health services . This individ ual must possess a high level of organization and time management skills . He or she must be able to effectively communicate with various audiences as well as people at different levels within the organization . This individual rep orts directly to the EHS Executive and Regional Leaders .

What You Will Do:

• Understand project schedule for risk planning
• Develop & Manage relationships at all levels including projects/craft, regional leadership, safety peers and corporate
• Develop Action Plans for Regional Safety Performance
• Consistent presence on projects –Timely response to projects questions or issues
• Ensure consistent communications and timely delivery on internal projects & tasks.
• Work with Project Management teams on job site safety planning, including but not limited to the following:
  • Pre-construction safety meetings; contractor safety orientations; weekly site safety inspections and accident/incident investigations.
  • Development and implementation of a variety of safety programs and training.
  • Provide safety knowledge to ensure consistency in safety policies and procedures throughout all regions/projects to the region and other safety professionals.
  • Review Contractor PreQualifications and Site Specific Safety Plans to ensure conformance with Messer and regulatory requirements
  • Assist Messer personnel in the development, revision and implementation of new or updated policies, procedures or task specific work instructions.
  • Ensure emergency response systems, policies andprocedures are in place to manage emergency situations.
  • Provide data analysis & reports, regulatory interpretations & guidance on all safety and health policies and programs of critical importance to overall corporate objectives, operations, and profitability.

What You Will Bring:

• Bachelor'sdegreerequired. Environmental, Health and Safety or related fieldpreferred.
• 5+ years of leadership experience in construction safety
