Job summary

KALCON is seeking an experienced Safety Manager with 7–10+ years of construction safety experience on mission critical projects. As an Owner’s Representative, you will provide field safety oversight, conduct site inspections, and deliver daily reporting to support safe, compliant project execution across multiple data center sites.

The ideal candidate holds CSP or CHST, OSHA 30 (or OSHA 500/502), First Aid/CPR, and demonstrates strong communication and leadership to collaborate across project

Qualifications

  • 7–10+ years construction safety experience on critical facilities or vertical building projects.
  • CSP or CHST certification issued by BCSP.
  • OSHA 30 Hour Construction Outreach Training within last three years (or OSHA 500/502).
  • Current First Aid/CPR training.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and cross-team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Look ahead on high-risk activities and assist with risk analysis.
  • Produce daily safety observations and trend reports.
  • Monitor contractor safety program compliance and reporting for Owner’s Representative projects.
  • Perform daily safety reviews and site inspections per SOPs.
  • Audit Methods of Procedures (MOPs) for safety compliance.
  • Submit daily/weekly/monthly safety reports as required.
  • Monitor OSHA regulatory requirements across projects.
  • Attend meetings and report safety findings to Director of Safety.
  • Notify Director of Safety of any incident or injury.
  • Verify contractor COVID-19 safety plan adherence at each site.
  • Ensure timely reporting of injuries and near-misses with proper forms.
  • Comment on Project Health, Safety & Environmental Plans as prepared.

Job description

KALCON is seeking an experienced Safety Manager with 7-10+ years of construction safety experience supporting mission critical, data center, semiconductor, or other complex vertical construction projects. As an Owner’s Representative, this individual will provide field safety oversight, conduct site inspections and audits, monitor contractor compliance with OSHA and project safety requirements, and deliver daily reporting and risk assessments to help ensure safe, compliant project execution. The ideal candidate will hold a current CSP or CHST certification, OSHA 30 (or OSHA 500/502), and First Aid/CPR certification, while demonstrating strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills with the ability to effectively collaborate across project teams and manage multiple active jobsites.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 7 to 10 years construction/safety experience in critical facilities, mission critical, semiconductor, or similar scope projects primarily for vertical building construction.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work with all levels of the project team.
  • Evidence of completing OSHA 30 Hour Construction Outreach Training within the last three years. In the alternative, evidence of completing the OSHA 500 or OSHA 502 Class may be provided.
  • Current First Aid and CPR training from a provider recognized by OSHA.
  • Minimum of holding a valid Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certificate issued by the BCSP Board of Certified Safety Professionals.
  • Flexibility in schedule and transportation to work at multiple sites based on assigned schedule and duties and perform time management as required to meet all the position requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office and related spreadsheet and database software.
  • Ability to provide management oversight on behalf of the Owner and effectively complete reporting on a dailybasis as required by the program.
Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Look ahead on high-risk activities and assisting with risk analysis of upcoming work.
  • Produce daily observations and indicator/trend reports on Procure.
  • Monitor compliance with site safety programs and requirements, which defines safety requirements that contractors must comply with while working as an Owner’s Representative on Data Center projects.
  • Perform Daily Safety reviews of work in progress in accordance with current Safety Regulations and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Conducts construction site safety audits to identify improper procedures, checks equipment and facilities for hazardous conditions and recommends corrective actions.
  • Audit and review Methods of Procedures (MOPs) for safety compliance and to minimize site impacts.
  • Submit Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Safety reports required by the Program.
  • Monitor compliance to all current OSHA requirements that relate to the specific construction projects.
  • Report to the Director of Safety, including but not limited to, attending any required meetings or providing safety reports/analysis as requested.
  • Immediately notify the Director of Safety of any incident or recordable injury on projects.
  • Monitor Contractor compliance with COVID-19 regulations as defined by city, state, and OSHA guidelines. Confirm that Contractor Safety Plans are complete and updated to address COVID Safety Guidelines on each project site.
  • Confirm that Contractor is reporting all recordable injuries and near-miss incidents within the required timelinesand by filing the proper forms. Review the report for accuracy before filing.
  • Review and provide comments to the Owner on the project-specific “Project Health, Safety & Environmental Plan” as prepared by the Owner or the Contractor.
  • Perform ongoing construction site safety inspections and generate safety report for all site visits.
  • Identify site safety hazards and provide immediate direction to contractor safety representative to eliminate or mitigate them.
  • Perform reviews and inspections of the jobsite to assure compliance with health and safety regulations and applicable codes.
  • Participate in site inspections and testing as necessary for required permits, including confined space, hot work, trenching, etc.
  • Confirm that the New Hire Safety Orientation on-line safety training are available onsite.
  • Confirm that contractors are performing tailgate safety meetings and training as required by their Contract and/or OSHA requirements.
  • Attend pre-construction meetings to present Owner’s safety program and the role of the field safety representative. Provide comprehensive safety support and guidance for Project Team.
  • Monitor adherence to zero tolerance and corrective action policy for workers found not in compliance with the Program’s safety policy.
  • Conduct project safety stand-downs with all crews to review the incident for injuries. Educate all site workers on how to prevent a repeat accident.
