The Simplot Company in Ontario, Oregon is seeking a Plant Safety Manager to lead the development and implementation of safety, health, and environmental programs across our manufacturing facilities. You will partner with plant leadership to foster a strong safety culture and ensure regulatory compliance.

This role requires 3–5+ years in safety management within manufacturing, a bachelor's degree, and preferred CSP/OHST/CIH credentials.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of related experience in safety management.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state safety laws and regulations.
• Preferred CSP/OHST/CIH certifications or willingness to pursue.

• Oversee the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) process for the Company.
• Coordinate and facilitate training programs involving supervisory development, emergency response and regulatory compliance.
• Lead and direct management, professional, technical, and support personnel at locations.

Summary

The Plant Safety Manager leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety, health, and environmental programs to ensure a safe and compliant workplace. This role partners with plant leadership and employees to drive a strong safety culture, reduce risk, prevent injuries, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and company safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for making recommendations and presentations to senior management based on accepted safety methodology. Develops and evaluates personnel within the scope of the job's responsibility.
• Develops and implements proactive safety processes at the Company facilities. Provides guidance and support for these processes for the goal of injury prevention.
• Manages people, projects, and/or programs. Interfaces with agencies and facility personnel.
• Provides leadership to create a consistent and standardized process for all safety related compliance activities for the Company. Will collaborate with the plant safety professionals to gather input to create a systematic process for compliance.
• Conducts audits of safety programs and identifies and controls significant loss producing exposures. Provides guidance and assistance with investigations at the facilities and communicates findings company-wide.
• Evaluates performances of program activities and provides summary report to management.
• Oversees and manages the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) process for the Company.
• Coordinates, develops, and facilitates, training programs involving supervisory development, emergency response and regulatory compliance.
• Manages activities and provides leadership direction to management, professional, technical, and support personnel at the locations.

Typical Education

Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university is preferred (Equivalent experience of education and experience will be considered for meeting the minimum requirements of the role).

• 3-5+ years related experience and/or training.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment is required.

Required Certifications

Other Information

Preferred CSP/OHST/CIH, or willing to pursue a certification. Must have a strong working knowledge of federal and state safety laws/regulations. Must be able to accurately define problems, collect data, interpret analytical results, draw valid conclusions, and make reasonable recommendations to upper management that support the production and final goals of the company. Must be capable of and willing to respond to emergencies during off shifts, weekends, and/or holidays.
