Job summary

Kiewit Power Constructors District is seeking a Mid Level Safety professional to develop and implement safety plans for power generation projects, lead incident investigations, and ensure regulatory compliance across sites.

The role emphasizes training delivery, strong communication, and the ability to operate in dynamic field environments, with a focus on maintaining an injury-free workplace and driving continuous safety improvements.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
  • 3+ years in heavy industrial and/or solar projects.
  • Strong work ethic and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and collaboratively in a team.
  • Proficiency with standard office software.
  • Knowledge of construction safety and current OSHA requirements preferred.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

Safety Planning and Implementation:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety plans and procedures specific to power generation projects
  • Ensure that safety protocols are aligned with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and Kiewit's safety standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and assess safety risks.

Training and Education:

  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and subcontractors. Provide guidance on safety-related certifications and qualifications required for specific job roles.
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability across all levels of the organization.

Incident Management and Investigation:

  • Lead investigations into safety incidents, near misses, and accidents.
  • Analyze root causes of incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Ensure timely reporting of all safety incidents in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay informed about changes in safety regulations and standards applicable to power generation projects
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies. Coordinate with regulatory authorities during inspections and audits.

Safety Performance Monitoring:

  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure safety performance on projects.
  • Conduct regular assessments and audits to evaluate adherence to safety standards and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide timely and accurate safety reports to project management and senior leadership.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or Industrial or equivalent degree/work experience
  • 3+ years of experience in Heavy Industrial and/or Solar projects
  • Strong work ethic; good interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Must be able to act independently with little or no supervision and work collaboratively on a team environment
  • Ability to operate a standard personal computer as well as knowledge of and experience with standard office computer software.
  • Ability to carry out duties in varying work environments including wide ranging weather conditions and terrain.
  • Knowledge of construction safety, current Federal and OSHA requirements is preferred
Working Conditions
  • Fast-paced office environment;
  • Must be able to interact professionally with all levels of management while simultaneously manage a diversified workload and challenging situations efficiently and effectively.

  • Occasionally lift and move objects up to 30 pounds.
