Job summary

Mortenson Construction is currently seeking a Safety Manager II who will provide leadership within Mortenson's Zero Injury Safety program for multiple project teams and sites. The role includes developing site-specific safety plans, hazard assessments, and training. Travel up to 100% may be required; CSP preferred; a safety degree or equivalent with experience is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety, occupational health, or related field.
• High school diploma with CHST, OSHA 500, and 12 years construction safety experience.
• Minimum seven years of experience in a construction safety role or equivalent.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.
• Valid driver's license.
• Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple project teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety software programs.
• Strong interpersonal skills and public speaking abilities.
• Ability to travel up to 100%.

SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking a Safety Manager II that will be responsible for providing management, leadership, direction and support within Mortenson's Zero Injury Safety program for multiple project teams and construction sites.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee, lead, and manage the implementation of the Zero Injury Safety Program and develop site-specific safety plans across multiple project sites
• Plan, lead, and manage safety program elements and initiatives, collaborating with trade partners and joint-venture partners
• Conduct and review site hazard assessments, develop safety orientation content, and identify and conduct necessary safety training
• Oversee project documentation, tracking, and analysis of safety statistics, trend analyses, and OSHA reports, and lead improvement action plans
• Monitor onsite construction activities, document deficiencies and corrective actions, and lead incident reporting, investigation, and analysis
• Collaborate with Risk Management, review project work plans, and participate in project planning and hazard analysis
• Provide direction and mentorship to Safety staff, act as a resource for safety issues, and maintain knowledge of safety standards and regulations
• Support safety performance metrics, assist in incident response, and build relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in safety, occupational health, or related field;
• OR
• High school diploma with CHST, OSHA 500, and 12 years of construction experience leading crews and planning work, including seven years as a dedicated construction safety professional
• Minimum seven years of experience in a construction safety role or equivalent related experience
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
• Valid driver's license
• Detail-oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple project teams
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant safety software programs
• Strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude, professional customer service skills, and effective public speaking and presentation skills
• Ability to travel up to 100%

The base pay range for this role is $107,200 MIN - $160,800 MAX. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
