Job summary

AIS Infrastructure Group is seeking a Site Safety Manager to oversee safety across construction projects. You will develop and implement safety programs, train staff, and conduct site inspections to prevent incidents and ensure regulatory compliance.

The role requires strong communication, analytical skills, and the ability to lead safety training while staying current with OSHA and EM 385-1-1 standards. This temporary position may lead to long-term placements based on project needs.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of safety program and site safety management on heavy civil/industrial projects.
  • Experience with mass excavation, grading, trenching, heavy concrete, underground utilities.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance for secure facilities, including military bases.
  • OSHA 30-hour training minimum; OSHA 510 & 500 preferred.
  • Familiarity with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 and EM 385-1-1 standards.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and related safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with safety management systems and software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with employees and stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead and facilitate safety training sessions and meetings.
  • Attention to detail and enforcement of safety protocols.

Job Summary

The Site Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all employees and contractors working on construction and industrial services projects. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the successful execution of projects by implementing and enforcing safety standards and protocols set by AIS Infrastructure.

This project is expected to last until the end of February, so this position could just be a temporary contract. But if you are open to travel and going to a different location after completion of this project, it is likely but not guaranteed that we will be able to place you elsewhere to make this a long-term hire

  • Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and potential risks in the workplace.
  • Collaborate with project managers and supervisors to ensure safety measures are integrated into project plans and activities.
  • Provide safety training and orientation to employees and contractors, emphasizing the importance of safe work practices and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-miss situations, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, incidents, and safety-related communications.
  • Conduct job hazard analyses to identify and address potential risks associated with specific tasks or job sites.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective measures.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and regulatory changes related to safety in construction and industrial services.
  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies, clients, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with safety requirements and maintain positive relationships.
Requirements and Education
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety programs and site safety management of heavy civil, large infrastructure, large industrial, and/or site development construction projects.
  • Experience with heavy civil/horizontal construction projects involving mass excavation, grading, trenching, heavy concrete, underground utilities, etc. is crucial.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance to access secure facilities, including military bases is required.
  • OSHA 30-hour training at minimum, but preferably OSHA 510 & 500 training, as well.
  • Familiarity and experience with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 standards and/or EM 385-1-1 standards is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with safety management systems and software.
  • Strong knowledge of construction and industrial safety regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with employees, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead and facilitate safety training sessions and meetings.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify safety hazards and develop effective solutions.
  • Attention to detail and ability to enforce safety protocols consistently.
Preferred Requirements and Education
  • Experience working with USACE and/or DOT is a big plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health & safety, environmental science, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) are preferred.
  • Construction Quality Control experience is a plus.
Travel
  • Travel to other project sites and client meetings may be required as needed.
