Job summary

AIS Infrastructure is seeking a Site Safety Manager to safeguard personnel on construction and industrial projects. This role enforces safety standards and oversees program implementation across sites, with a focus on compliance, training, and incident investigation.

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years in site safety for large projects, OSHA/EPA knowledge, and the ability to obtain security clearance for access to secured facilities. Travel to project sites may be required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years in safety programs and site safety management for large construction projects.
  • Experience with vertical construction in initial Laredo phases; later heavy civil horizontal construction experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other safety regulations.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance for secured facilities (military bases).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with employees, contractors, and stakeholders.

Job Summary

The Site Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all employees and contractors working on construction and industrial services projects. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the successful execution of projects by implementing and enforcing safety standards and protocols set by AIS Infrastructure.

  • Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and potential risks in the workplace.
  • Collaborate with project managers and supervisors to ensure safety measures are integrated into project plans and activities.
  • Provide safety training and orientation to employees and contractors, emphasizing the importance of safe work practices and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-miss situations, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, incidents, and safety-related communications.
  • Conduct job hazard analyses to identify and address potential risks associated with specific tasks or job sites.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective measures.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and regulatory changes related to safety in construction and industrial services.
  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies, clients, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with safety requirements and maintain positive relationships.
Requirements and Education
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety programs and site safety management for large construction projects.
  • Initial project in Laredo is past civil phases, and the main focus will be vertical construction, so experience and knowledge with that work is key.
  • After the initial project, future projects will be heavy civil with a focus on horizontal construction, so experience with heavy civil/horizontal construction projects involving mass excavation, grading, trenching, heavy concrete, underground utilities, etc. is important, as well.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance to access secured facilities, including military bases.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with safety management systems and software.
  • Strong knowledge of construction and industrial safety regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with employees, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead and facilitate safety training sessions and meetings.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify safety hazards and develop effective solutions.
  • Attention to detail and ability to enforce safety protocols consistently.
Preferred Requirements and Education
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) are preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health & safety, environmental science, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Construction Quality Control experience is a plus.
Travel
  • Travel to project sites and client meetings may be required as needed.
