Job summary

CR Meyer is seeking an Electrical Safety Manager to support its Electrical Division and heavy industrial clients by guiding risk management and safety compliance on electrical construction projects.

You will implement the CR Meyer Risk Management program, deliver on-site training, perform site audits, coordinate emergency response, and mentor staff to uphold safety standards and the Code of Conduct.

Qualifications

  • Five to seven years of health & safety experience in electrical contracting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety preferred.
  • NFPA 70E Qualified Person training required.
  • OSHA 510/500 certification preferred.
  • MS Office proficiency required.

Responsibilities

  • Implements and administers the CR Meyer Risk Management program for electrical construction projects.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert on electrical safety for CR Meyer staff and customers.
  • Delivers on-site electrical safety training and coaching to project teams.
  • Works with Project Managers on pre-project electrical safety planning.
  • Conducts site audits, issues corrective actions, and follows up on safety concerns.
  • Maintains electrical-related accident documentation and conducts investigations.
  • Coordinates emergency response and ensures PPE compliance.
  • Represents CR Meyer in safety communications and keeps records up to date.

Job description

Position Description

The Electrical Safety Manager contributes to the overall success of CR Meyer’s Electrical Division and its heavy industrial customers through assisting the construction project management team in all matters pertaining to risk management, health and safety. Responsible for implementing the CR Meyer Risk Management program as it relates to specific electrical construction projects, acting as a resource to management, administrative and field staff and ensuring compliance through effective partnering and leadership.

  • Acts as a resource to all CR Meyer management, administrative and field staff in interpretation, administration and compliance with the CR Meyer Risk Management program as it relates to the electrical services provided by the organization.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert (SME) on electrical safety to all CR Meyer staff. Provides guidance on all electrical safety protocols, policies and procedures.
  • Assists the company is developing, maintaining and overseeing all electrical-related training programs. Delivers training as needed on-site.
  • Works with Project Managers and other construction staff on pre-project electrical safety planning.
  • Develops an understanding of customers’ site-specific safety requirements. Ensures that CR Meyer and all subcontractors meets or exceed those expectations.
  • Conducts routine site visits to build rapport and conduct site audits. Makes recommendations and acclamations both verbally and in writing. Follows-up to ensure correction and if needed, issues warnings of persistent, uncorrected unsafe conditions.
  • The Electrical Safety Manager has the authority to order a work suspension in situations where imminent danger or serious hazards exist.
  • Provides on-site training as needed in electrical safety-related matters. Coaches others on proper electrical safety techniques and guidelines.
  • Leads by personal example and is a strong advocate for the CR Meyer Mission-Vision-Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Assists with organizing and providing all relevant safety-related training for CR Meyer management, administrative and field staff.
  • Prepares and maintains all electrical-related accident documentation, including preparation of reports and notification to all parties. Conducts post-accident and near-miss investigations of electrical-related incidents.
  • Participates in employee coaching sessions, providing support and guidance to field supervisors on properly documenting safety concerns.
  • Assists in the coordination of emergency response, such as first aid, medical, fire protection, evacuation, and fire alarms as well as on-site construction security procedures. Coordinates with emergency response personnel, transports injured employees to the clinic and coordinates post-accident follow-up.
  • Maintain safety supplies/PPE as needed for each job site, orders supplies and assists employees with questions on proper use. Ensures all CR Meyer PPE meets the specific requirements of the electrical trades.
  • Leads by example observing and promoting CR Meyer safety guidelines at all times.
  • Due to project deadlines and demands, regular and reliable attendance is required.
  • Completes all related reports and paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Represents the CR Meyer brand in a positive, professional manner at all times.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • Five to seven years of health & Safety experience in the electrical contracting industry required.
  • Bachelors Degree in Occupational Health & Safety preferred.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Certified to deliver NPFA 70E Qualified Person training required
  • OSHA 510/500 certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products required.
  • Ability to complete all CR Meyer training and perform job duties within safety guidelines required.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and comply with CR Meyer’s Drug & Alcohol Policy and Program.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, insurable driving history and ability to operate a motor vehicle following all traffic laws and safe, courteous driving habits.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
  • Ability to travel (up to 75% of time) to various project sites within the United States required.
