In your spare time, you'll help on a variety of small and major initiatives that will be fun, challenging, and make a giant impact.

What you will do:

  • Develop, implement and manage strategic health & safety programs tailored to residential and light commercial work environments, including construction, maintenance, and in-home service visits
  • Create, implement and maintain safety plans, policies, procedures and records such as manuals, SDS binders, IIPP and other required and best practice documentation in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Develop, conduct and/or provide regular safety training including but not limited to onboarding, defensive driving, ladder safety, lifting techniques and certifications while maintaining up-to-date training records
  • Lead, guide and support the safety committee, safety meetings and promotes an overall culture of safety throughout the organization
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify workplace hazards and ensure the proactive safety of our people
  • Lead investigations of accidents, incidents and near-misses while developing robust reporting mechanisms to identify trends
  • Manage, evaluate and recommend safety equipment, PPE and supplies
  • Oversee worker's compensation, occupational clinic relationships, incident and OSHA logs, injury management, light duty accommodations and return to work
  • Conduct regular reporting, loss control and analysis of safety data and trends to identify opportunities for improvement and risk reduction
What you should bring:
  • 5+ years of progressive workplace safety experience in construction, home services, manufacturing or similar industry with at least 3 years in a safety management role
  • Strong demonstrated knowledge and experience working with GL, Worker's Compensation and auto insurance providers in addition to Retro Programs, TPA's and L&I
  • Similarly strong working knowledge of industry safety standards, Washington L&I and Cal/OSHA regulations, fall protection, ladder safety, lockout/tagout, and hazard communication standards
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental health, related field or equivalent experience
  • Ability to travel 15-20%
Everyone you work with should describe you as:
  • Initiative Taker - Empowers themselves, brings solutions, has a bias for action and is highly accountable
  • Calculated Balance - Understands the business sufficient enough to know how it works and how policies, programs and practices, and information impacts business success
  • Consultant - Strong consulting & coaching skills; experience as an effective advisor to management; capable of influencing behaviors and actions of others through formal channels and informal network
  • Collaborative - Works well with others, solicits feedback, and has a positive upbeat personality who focuses on opportunities rather than obstacles
  • High Integrity - Ability to use discretion and judgment to resolve sensitive issues; demonstrated integrity and ethics in handling confidential information
  • Analytical - Uses the right data to help inform and make decisions; applies critical thinking both strategically and tactically; is a wiz with Excel.
  • Gets Dirty - The ability to be comfortable with a high volume workload, ambiguity, changing priorities and not be afraid to "roll up your sleeves"
  • Effective Communicator - Has exceptional communication skills, both in composing thoughtful written communication and sharing complex information verbally
  • Humble - Lacks ego, shares credit and defines success collectively with a curious mind for learning
And you should be motived by:
  • Learning how to do something well by doing it, not be reading a manual or going to formal training
  • Working in a lean, results-oriented environment, where you'll be expected to do more, take on more, and achieve more every year
  • Having fun in a start-up-y type environment high on transparency, open to new approaches and without a ton of structure
Compensation

The base pay range for this role is $75,000 - $105,000 per year.
