North American Construction Group seeks a Safety Manager to lead health and safety initiatives at the San Miguel Mine in Christine, TX. The role requires a proven safety leader who forges relationships with stakeholders and guides on-site safety and training teams.

Qualifications

  • Eight years’ progressive experience in Health, Safety & Environment.
  • 30 CFR Part 48 and Part 77 qualifications; MSHA knowledge.
  • Industrial construction/mining industry experience preferred.
  • Strong incident investigations experience.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a Safety Manager to lead health and safety initiatives at the San Miguel Lignite Mine in Christine TX. This is a great opportunity for an experienced safety professional who enjoys working with a high performing team while making an impact. What You’ll Be Doing
  • Implement Health, Safety and Environmental reporting and tracking systems to meet client requirements.
  • Ensure MSHA and legislative reporting requirements are met.
  • Develop and Implement strategies to proactively reduce risk and potential loss exposures on site.
  • Initiate, coordinate and manage all the safety related tasks on site.
  • Monitor ongoing D&A program elements and industry requirements.
  • Ensure procedures are communicated, understood and adhered to, at the site all Company locations.
  • Promoting and developing a strong safety culture oriented towards continuous improvement and in reinforcing HSE leadership.
  • Facilitate a work environment that supports a safe and healthy culture.
  • Support operations to maintain safe systems of work and implement best practice, including providing specialist advice, coaching and practical support as needed.
  • Manage performance of direct reports. Set and communicate goals, strategic direction and priorities to ensure success. Ensure plans are consistent with overall NACG HS&E Strategy and Corporate Mandates.
  • Ensure the development, implementation, and maintenance of training programs/packages for the mine.
  • Responsible to monitor and ensure implementation of training programs/packages.
  • Develop or source training or training materials to support specific objectives and ongoing programs.
What Makes You The ONE
  • Designation as an HSE professional preferred.
  • Eight years’ progressive experience gained through increasingly responsible management positions within Health, Safety & Environment.
  • Related post-secondary education or equivalent experience related to Health, Safety & Environment.
  • 30 CFR Part 48 and Part 77 Qualifications in Surface Certified and Instructor Surface are required. Additional qualifications in Dust Calibration, Dust Sampling and Impoundment Inspection are considered an asset.
  • Industrial construction and/or mining industry experience preferred.
  • Experience leading or managing projects.
  • Experience leading significant incident investigations.
  • Experience dealing with regulating bodies; knowledge and understanding of MSHA as well as the Mine Act and 30 CFR.
  • Intermediate computer skills and experience working in an MS Office environment.
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to provide a recent driving abstract.
  • Strong and collaborative ability to use information available to make decisions and act decisively.
  • Exercise independent judgment and initiative within established guidelines.
  • Proven ability to remain objective and calm under pressure.
  • Proven ability to conduct research and find information.
  • Understanding of strategic long term vision.
  • Ability to align team members around HSE and team strategy and goals.
  • Ability to inspire trust teamwork and high performance.
  • Skilled in listening, coaching and developing teams.
  • Understanding of managing resources and funds for the function.
  • Knowledge of motivational principles and methods and how to provide timely and constructive feedback.
  • Knowledge of ethical issues and legal regulations when dealing with personnel and human resources issues.
