CalPortland is seeking a Safety Manager for the Bay Area to oversee safety programs across multiple ready-mix and batch plant locations in San Jose. This salaried role focuses on compliance with CalPortland policies, delivering training, coaching employees, and promoting consistent safety practices.

The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Safety or equivalent and robust knowledge of CalOSHA/OSHA and DOT regulations.

Responsibilities

• Manage Injury & Illness Prevention Program to ensure CalOSHA/OSHA compliance.
• Conduct OSHA 10/30 training for employees, supervisors and managers.
• Perform site inspections, safety meetings, new hire orientations, job hazard analyses, and safety committee meetings.
• Assist with incident and injury prevention investigations.
• Oversee CalOSHA/OSHA inspections and follow up accordingly.
• Prepare safety reports on trends for injuries and incidents.
• Manage recordkeeping and reporting for CalOSHA, OSHA, and DOT.
• Oversee chemical inventory and Safety Data Sheets at each plant.

CalPortland is seeking a Safety Manager for the Bay Area to oversee, support, and continuously improve safety programs across multiple ready-mix and batch plant locations. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with company safety policies and procedures, developing and delivering safety training, coaching employees on safe work practices, conducting site-level safety reviews, and partnering with managers and operations leaders to promote safe, compliant, and consistent operations throughout the assigned area.

Compensation

$90k-$120k DOE

Responsibilities

• Manage and administer the Injury & Illness Prevention Program to ensure compliance with CalOSHA and OSHA programs, and DOT regulations.
• Conduct OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour training for employees, supervisors and managers.
• Perform and document site inspections, employee safety meetings, new hire safety orientations, job hazard analysis and safety committee meetings
• Assist with incident and injury prevention investigations
• Oversee and attend CalOSHA and OSHA inspections and handle necessary follow up and response.
• Perform filing of required safety reporting.
• Investigate motor vehicle accidents and incidents.
• Prepare safety reports for management outlining trends for motor vehicle accidents, near misses, first aid injuries, and medically treated injuries.
• Manage CalOSHA, OSHA and DOT recordkeeping and reporting.
• Oversee annual chemical inventory at each plant location and assist in maintaining Safety Data Sheets.
• Conduct internal onsite inspections to ensure safety and health requirements are maintained in accordance to state and federal regulations and company safety policies and programs
• Train employees and supervisors in best safety practices, policies and procedures

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Safety or equivalent preferred
