Job summary

Maldonado Nursery & Landscaping Inc. is seeking a Safety Manager to develop, implement, and oversee safety programs to protect employees and ensure regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate brings a strong safety management background, excellent communication, and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating hazards. As Safety Manager you will lead safety training, conduct JSAs and audits, maintain OSHA logs, and collaborate with HR and Fleet for DOT compliance.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver's License.
• 5+ years of Safety Manager experience.
• Ability to travel to branches in Texas twice weekly for site visits.

Responsibilities

• Assist with executing safety strategy and foster zero-accident culture.
• Monitor daily construction activities for OSHA compliance and company rules.
• Implement the project safety program.
• Lead onsite safety classes (fall protection, excavation, confined space, scaffolding, electrical, OSHA-10/30).
• Perform Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and HSE audits; identify opportunities to reduce incidents.
• Hold crews accountable for hazard recognition and incident prevention.
• Assist in accident investigations and reporting.
• Manage injury processes from incident to recovery.
• Conduct proactive and reactive safety talks with employees.
• Visit job sites to evaluate crew safety performance and technique.
• Ensure best practices are followed by crews and subcontractors.
• Investigate and analyze injuries and auto accidents.
• Maintain OSHA 300 logs and yearly summaries in HRIS.
• Coordinate with Fleet Manager for DOT compliance.
• Audit DOT onboarding with HR for records compliance.
• Provide safety information to clients in pre-qualifications, bids, and contracts.
• Record injuries, near-misses, and property damage; identify patterns and preventive actions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with executing our safety strategy and zero accident culture on the project(s)
• Monitor daily construction activities for compliance with OSHA and company rules/policies.
• Implement the project’s safety program.
• Teach onsite safety classes including fall protection, excavation & confined space, scaffolding, electrical, OSHA-10 and OSHA-30 hour.
• Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and HSE audits on all locations and equipment; identify areas of opportunity to reduce incidents, accidents, and injuries.
• Hold field workers accountable for accident / incident prevention, hazards recognition and upholding the companies desired safety culture.
• Assist in accident and incident investigations and reports.
• Assist with injury management from the initial accident / incident through the complete cycle of managing the injured employee.
• Conduct both proactive and reactive safety talks with employees.
• Visit job sites to evaluate the performance of crews to ensure they are efficiently carrying out duties assigned and using proper safety and construction techniques.
• See that best practices are observed and maintained by both crews and subcontractors.
• Investigates and analyzes all injuries and auto accidents.
• Maintains up‑to‑date OSHA 300 logs including yearly summary in HRIS system.
• Collaborate with Fleet Manager to ensure DOT compliance.
• Audit DOT onboarding process and work with HR Team to ensure compliance of records.
• Provides approved safety‑related information to clients as requested in pre- qualifications, bid packages, and contracts.
• Records all injuries (including “near‑miss” situations), accidents, and property damage in a well‑organized manner; recognizes patterns and recommends preventative actions.
