Position Summary

The Region Safety Manager ensures Adams Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, including State and Federal applicable regulations are adhered to by the assigned project leadership personnel. Serves as direct supervisor for all Site Safety Specialist in assigned region. Provides or identifies safety related training, overseeing adherence to construction safety norms, etc. Answers non-routine correspondence and assembles highly confidential and sensitive information.

Responsibilities
  • Supports the construction teams by actively engaging them in dialog about safety concerns and passionately working to find practical proactive solutions.
  • Provides training on required documentation from the field teams through the SiteDocs application.
  • Assist the Corporate Safety Director in tracking incident metrics and identifying trends.
  • Performs jobsite safety audits.
  • Assists Field Safety Specialist in performing incident investigations to determine root cause and identify corrective actions.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of safety training as needed for the projects.
  • Assist Project Management with SSSP preparation as needed for the regional sites.
  • Perform Site Safety Kickoff meetings with the project staff for all developing/new projects in the region.
  • Stays current with key changes in the legal and regulatory environment.
  • Fosters a positive safety culture by demonstrating active care and concern for the wellbeing of employees and leading by example.
  • Participates actively in OSHA inspections.
  • Represents the Safety Department at Foreman/ Superintendent/PM meetings regularly.
  • Serves as direct supervisor for Field Safety Specialist in the region.
  • Actively participates in monthly safety meetings, internal cross functional teams/committees, and organizations such as ABC, AGC, etc.
  • Coordinates with other Regional Safety Managers and the Corporate Safety Director to ensure uniformity and standardization of Adams policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Actively participates in the project handoff programs and processes, including project site preparation, acclimating to the project team, etc.
  • Providing communication and documentation of the inspections carried out including suggesting necessary corrective measures via Adams information systems.
  • Conduct quality control inspections of assigned field leadership personnel ensuring all safety related forms/inspections, i.e., Adams Pre-Task Planning, are being adhered to.
  • Ensure assigned project(s) are adequately equipped with safety apparatus, PPE, potable water, latrines, first aid, etc. to support the current assigned workforce.
  • Providing consultation and advice to the field leadership team and assisting them in maintaining a safe working environment by complying with safety regulations, practices and standards.
  • Providing direct technical surveillance and testing services when required.
  • Enforce and implement Adams Safety policies and Procedures, including but not limited to coaching, discussions, and disciplinary action.
  • Assist assigned leadership personnel with incident and \"near miss\" investigations.
  • Provide \"in-house\" training for Adams employees, including training assigned project site personnel on various health and safety topics.
  • Record, file and distribute training certifications as necessary for all trainees.
  • Attend all Safety meetings required by Adams, General Contractors and Owners while representing Adams in a professional manner.
  • Develop relationships and build the trust of all field associates, project managers, trade contractors, general contractors, and others who are associated with project related activities. As well as maintain professional relationships with client contacts to assure their satisfaction with Adams’s Safety Program.
  • Extensive knowledge of safety protocols and procedures.
  • Responsible for reinforcing safety standards to build our continued culture of safety for all Adams employees.
  • Overseeing safety initiatives in accordance with the policies and procedures established by Adams Electric and participation in the Safety Task Force at Adams Electric.

Skills Required/ Qualifications
  • Ability to listen well and take in feedback from the employee perspective without passing judgment
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and regulations pertaining to the specific trade or activity being managed, OSHA 30 minimum requirement
  • Ability to access heights via ladders or scaffolding
  • Knowledge of the electrical trade as well as general construction activities and equipment

Work Environment/Job Conditions
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required (Hard hat, vest, protective eye wear, safety boots.)
  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors, often exposed to the natural elements of cold, heat, moisture, and wind.
  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 LBS on a regular basis.
  • Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements and background screening process
  • May be required to work outside of normal business hours
