Job summary

SNI Companies is seeking a Senior Safety Leader to supervise safety across U.S. locations and drive program compliance. You will develop, implement, and improve safety policies and lead multi-site teams to ensure regulatory adherence in industrial and transportation settings.

Applicants should have six-plus years in safety, three in leadership, strong OSHA/NFPA/IH knowledge, and English/Spanish communication skills. Domestic travel about 30% is expected.

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to implement safety programs across multiple sites.
  • Clean, valid driver’s license required.
  • Excellent written and verbal English and Spanish communication.
  • Ability to travel ~30% domestically to support operations.
  • TWIC card within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead safety functions across U.S. locations with regulatory compliance.

  • Lead Safety Supervisors and teams, ensuring accountability.
  • Conduct site visits, audits, inspections, and evaluations.

  • Oversee accident prevention and root-cause investigations.
  • Develop and oversee safety training for supervisors and new hires.
  • Engage with operations to align safety with practices, providing guidance.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in Safety within an industrial or transportation environment.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in a leadership role, to include managing safety teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration), NFPA (National Fire Protection Association), Industrial Hygiene (IH), DOT/GHS (Hazardous materials), and ergonomics.
  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and manage safety programs across multiple sites.
  • Must possess a clean, valid driver’s license.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels internally and with external regulatory bodies.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret data and drive decisions.
  • Advanced PC skills (Excel, reporting, dashboards, and data analysis).
  • Extensive knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks and audit readiness practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, extended hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to travel domestically within the United States approximately 30% of the time to support business operations, attend meetings, and visit various company locations.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC card within 30 days of employment.
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification.
  • Experience working in Ocean Transportation or Maritime Shipping industry.
  • Experience managing Hazmat programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead and oversee the safety function across U.S. locations, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety and support safety-related policies and procedures.
  • Drive consistent implementation of safety programs across all locations.
  • Provide leadership and direction to Safety Supervisors and team members, ensuring accountability and effective execution of safety initiatives.
  • Oversee multi-site safety operations, including conducting site visits to assess conditions and support program implementation.
  • Lead and oversee audits, inspections, and on-site evaluations, ensuring deficiencies are identified and resolved.
  • Analyze data and trends to identify risks and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Lead accident prevention efforts and oversee incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Develop and oversee safety training programs, including supervisor and new hire training.
  • Conduct regular visits to operational areas to engage with employees, observe work practices, and reinforce a strong safety culture across all sites.
  • Actively participate in field operations and partner with operations leadership to ensure alignment between safety protocols and operational practices, providing real‑time guidance and collaborating with teams to address risks and improve compliance.
