Job summary

Managem Group is seeking a senior Health & Safety professional to lead HSE programs across mining operations, with relocation to the South-East region. You will drive risk management, incident investigations, and safety culture across site teams.

The role requires a minimum of 10 years in Health & Safety, including 5+ years in mining or high-risk settings, and strong leadership with a focus on regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s in Occupational Health & Safety, HSE, Mining Engineering or equivalent.
• NEBOSH/ISO 45001 Lead Auditor/Implementer or equivalent is a plus.
• Minimum 10 years of Health & Safety experience, with at least 5 years in mining or high-risk industry.
• Experience in critical risk management, contractor oversight, and field operations support.

Responsibilities

• Implement and promote Health & Safety Management System across the site.
• Advise site leadership on HSE matters and promote safety culture.
• Identify and control mining risks; lead major hazard prevention initiatives.
• Plan and oversee HSE inspections, audits, and compliance assessments.
• Lead accident investigations and ensure corrective actions.
• Monitor HSE performance indicators and report to management.
• Oversee safety training and contractor safety compliance.
• Ensure emergency preparedness and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement, promote, and ensure the effective application of the Health & Safety Management System across the entire site ;
• Advise and support Site Management and operational leaders on Health & Safety matters ;
• Promote a strong safety culture and develop safety leadership throughout the organization ;
• Ensure the identification, assessment, and effective control of risks associated with mining operations ;
• Lead critical risk management programs and major hazard prevention initiatives ;
• Plan and oversee HSE inspections, audits, and compliance assessments ;
• Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring effective follow-up of corrective actions ;
• Define, monitor, and analyze Health & Safety performance indicators and prepare management reports ;
• Oversee safety training, awareness, and competency development programs ;
• Ensure HSE compliance of contractors and subcontractors ;
• Lead emergency preparedness activities and ensure the effectiveness of emergency response systems ;
• Monitor regulatory developments and ensure compliance with legal requirements and Group standards ;
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Health & Safety Management System.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of Health & Safety Management Systems, particularly ISO 45001 ;
• Proficiency in risk identification, assessment, and control methodologies (JSA/JHA, HAZID, Bow-Tie, or equivalent) ;
• Solid knowledge of incident investigation techniques and root cause analysis methodologies ;
• Excellent understanding of critical risks in mining environments, including working at height, confined spaces, lifting operations, LOTO, explosives, mobile equipment, geotechnical hazards, and contractor management ;
• Good knowledge of Health & Safety regulations applicable to mining operations ;
• Strong leadership skills, with a visible field presence and the ability to foster a proactive safety culture ;
• Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills ;
• Strong communication, facilitation, and change management capabilities ;
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment, with strong organizational skills and a results-oriented mindset ;
• Strong commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, HSE, Mining Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or an equivalent discipline ;
• A recognized professional certification (NEBOSH, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor/Lead Implementer, IOSH, or equivalent) is considered an asset ;
• Minimum of 10 years of Health & Safety experience, including at least 5 years in the mining industry or another high-risk industry ;
• Proven experience in critical risk management, contractor management, and supporting field operations.

Position based in the South-East region, requiring willingness to relocate and geographic mobility.
