Job summary

Nixon Power Services seeks a Safety Manager to oversee safety, environmental, and health safety programs across our service centers. This role focuses on ensuring compliance, program development, and strong leadership to protect team members.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on leadership, excellent communication, and the ability to collaborate across departments to maintain a safe, compliant workplace. Travel across our service centers is significant in this role.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of safety experience in a manufacturing/distribution/service environment.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in safety or related field.
• Preferred: CSP/ASP/CHST/OSHA or OHST certifications and OSHA trainer credentials.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable motor vehicle record.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Extensive knowledge of OSHA/EPA regulations and violations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Develop process/strategy for safety/EHS programs and initiatives.
• Collaborate with functional team leads and establish business partnerships.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

We are seeking a Safety Manager to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for all safety, environmental, and health safety programs at Nixon Power Services including safety, training, report generation and submittal, regulatory compliance, program development/management, and more! You will provide on-site expertise across our service center network for all EHS matters, with a strong emphasis on safety matters to prevent and eliminate injury to team members.

What You'll Be Doing

• Develop process/strategy for safety/EHS programs and initiatives.
• Collaborate with functional team leads and work to establish business partnerships.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
• Monitor effectiveness of safety and EHS programs, training, and procedures within the organization.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and program consultation in the interpretation and application of safety programs, policies, and procedures.
• Analyze incident and accident data to identify trends and hazardous conditions and recommend policy revisions where needed.
• Regularly communicate with business line management on safety performance and initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with all Customer Safety Portals (Avetta, ISNetworld, etc.).
• Ensure all documentation is complete for any Recordable Incidents, and when necessary, Near Miss Incidents.
• Execute NFPA 70E Training and ensure compliance.
• Partner with Human Resources to ensure compliance with all related documentation.
• Lead the Strategic Safety Council and ensure Safety Committees are established and led at each service center with local leadership teams.
• Conduct regular Field Safety Audits with Technicians.
• Partner with Nixon's Risk Management partners.
• Oversee DOT and fleet safety compliance, including driver qualification files, driver training, and review of vehicle incidents.
• Manage workers' compensation claims in partnership with Human Resources and Nixon's insurance carriers.
• Other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of safety related experience in a manufacturing/distribution/service environment.
• Bachelor's degree, safety, environmental science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Preferred: Professional safety certification (CSP, ASP, CHST, OSHA or OHST), authorized OSHA trainer and First Aid/CPR instructor credentials.
• Valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle record.
• Strong ability to lead, persuade, motivate, and influence others.
• Extensive knowledge of OSHA/EPA regulations and violations.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent customer service skills.

Physical Requirements And Work Environment

• Travel: Significant, estimated at 50%-70% to service centers across our territory.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and to climb ladders and stairs at service centers and customer jobsites.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety-toed footwear.
• Work is performed in both office and field environments, including active jobsites, with exposure to noise, heat, cold, and outdoor conditions.
