Job summary

Southland Industries seeks a Safety Manager to lead and coordinate safety activities for the assigned team, ensuring compliance with regulatory and company requirements in field and facilities. You will conduct audits, develop reports, and drive EH&S initiatives across the region.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in safety-related fields and at least 5 years in Safety with leadership experience, plus knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, EPA and DOT standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health, Environmental Applied Sciences or related discipline required.
  • 5 years experience in Safety, including lead experience.
  • Certifications in CPR and First Aid preferred.
  • OSHA 10hr, OSHA 30hr, OSHA 40hr training preferred.
  • OSHA 500, CHST or ASP certifications preferred.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of workplace safety laws and regulations, including OSHA, NFPA, EPA and DOT standards.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and health and safety management systems and platforms.

  • Provides guidance for departmental processes and activities, including compliance with safety regulations and the investigation of accidents; provides leadership and recommendations regarding the design, implementation and administration of all safety-relative initiatives, policies, procedures and processes.
  • Provides performance coaching and feedback for direct reports as needed. Participates in annual performance process.
  • Participates in the recruitment and hiring process for safety roles.
