Virginia MetalFab is looking for motivated and energetic individuals to fill our newly opened Safety & Maintenance Coordinator role.
Who You Are In This Role
As a Safety & Maintenance Coordinator, you will be a part of an awesome shop team. Your core mission will be oversight of the integrity of the facility, including building systems and equipment, ensuring they are in compliance with safety regulations and standards. You will also be responsible for implementing and refining maintenance and safety programs, coordinating safety training, and performing preventative maintenance tasks.

Functions Of The Job
- Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair.
- Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs.
- Plans repair work using building’s blueprints or equipment manual as needed.
- Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician.
- Performs routine maintenance on building systems.
- Assists with upkeep of the facilities.
- Manages and coordinates activities of the safety program.
- Monitors equipment to ensure safe and effective operation.
- Develops and ensures adherence to preventative maintenance schedule.
- Monitors the safety of all departments and ensures adherence to guidelines.
- Supports OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements.
- Develops effective health safety plan designed to meet operational goals.
- Assists OSHA trainings for new and existing employees.
- Monitors, revises, and implements ongoing updates in safety regulations, laws or reporting requirements.
- Identifies and evaluates hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace.
- Helps develop controls for identified hazards, coordinates implementation.
- Measures and evaluates effectiveness of the hazard control system.
- Conducts and coordinates on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices.
- Ensures that safety supplies are within expiration dates and plentiful within all departments.
- Ensures compliance with Federal, State and Local Laws, rules, and regulations.
- Communicates with management and employees about processes that don't comply with procedures.
- Responds to emergency situations involving hazardous materials, fire, smoke incidents, or unknown hazards. Prepares reports of findings and submits recommendations.
- Handles accident record analysis and issues reports regularly.
- Analyzes accident and incident reports for trends and makes recommendations to correct unsafe conditions.
- Handles DOT compliance.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Management.

Education
- High School diploma or GED.
Skills & Abilities

Experience
- Prior experience in the metal or fabrication industry is highly beneficial.
- Safety and/or maintenance experience is beneficial.
Computer Skills
- MS Office Suite, basic computer skills.
Certifications & Licenses
- Forklift certification; trainer certification is a plus.
- OSHA certification, or willingness to obtain.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to wear various forms of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to lift/carry up to and including 51‑100 lb.
- Ability to push/pull up to and including 41‑100 lb.
