DescriptionWeyerhaeuser Company is accepting applications for a Leadership Development Professional who wants to pursue a career in Safety Management, for our Dierks, Arkansas Lumber facility. Eligible applicants must have experience coordinating safety procedures or serving in safety support roles preferably within a manufacturing environment.This is an entry level leadership developmental position that will report to the Mill Manager and be under close guidance with the Safety Manager and other assigned mentors. This individual will be accountable for growing and strengthening their safety leadership skills and general business understanding of the manufacturing processes and operations of a lumber mill through a detailed development plan including hands-on learning and successful completion of process improvement projects.The successful individual will be assigned to the next role within the safety department once development is successfully completed and a suitable assignment is identified that meets business needs.Key Functions:The essence of this role requires a highly motivated, people-oriented person for the proactive, practical application of safety commitment to the operation and to the day-to-day behaviors of all team members. Accountabilities may include, but are not limited to:Assist in implementing and monitoring safety programs and procedures to ensure personnel and facility safetyAssist with the facilitation of Safety Training for Weyerhaeuser associates such as Lockout/Tagout, Emergency Response, and other annual required trainingAssist with industrial hygiene monitoring to ensure workplace exposures remain under Federal and Weyerhaeuser exposure limitsParticipates in monitoring and controlling the organization’s safety standards in accordance with OSHA and State regulationsSupport the Health & Safety Manager and team leaders in implementation and execution of the Health & Safety Management systemOrganize and participate in safety audits and inspections as neededAssist with Paired Safety Observation (PSO) program execution and work with team leaders to complete the PSOsAssist with incident investigations and inspections of procedures, equipment, and facilitiesWork closely with and advise team leaders throughout the hazard analysis and procedure development, implementation, and review processesMaintain detailed records through online documentation, electronic databases and SharePoint files to track and evaluate personnel injury and illness experienceMentor the “Safety Committee” and its functions into a workable and functioning part of the safety culture to add valueEncourage employee involvement in safety and promote a caring safety cultureQualificationsBA/BS in Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene or related disciplineWillingness to adapt to strong safety culture and ensure safe and efficient execution of workAbility to exercise good judgment in setting priorities and follow-through in a fast-paced results –oriented environmentStrong desire to learn manufacturing processes, develop leadership capabilities and possess desire to progress in the organizationDemonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite and other windows-based programsExcellent communication and presentation skillsStrong interpersonal and problem-solving skillsExperience/knowledge project managementCapability to prioritize work activities, assignments, demands and flexibility to adapt to changesStrong analytical skillsAbility to develop partnerships and collaborative teamingCourage to challenge status quo and deliver resultsExcellent work ethic, strong time management and organizational skillsWillingness to relocate outside of the region for position opportunities and/or cross-business developmentWillingness to work alternate shifts when neededPreferred Qualifications2 years experience working in health & safetyWhat We Offer:Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $58,830 - $88,245 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 5% of base pay.
