Job summary

Essity North America Inc. is seeking a Safety Leader for our Bowling Green, KY manufacturing facility. The leader will guide safety and environmental policies, advance the site's EHS management system, and work with the Safety Specialist to meet legal requirements.

The role includes developing a site safety masterplan aligned with corporate goals, driving ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 compliance, and identifying cost-saving safety initiatives while leading the safety team and reporting monthly results.

Qualifications

  • University degree in relevant field.
  • 3+ years experience working at a production site.
  • 2+ years experience in EHS management (preferred).
  • Experience with safety and environmental systems.
  • ISO system implementation updates and new standards knowledge.
  • Root cause analysis skills.
  • Understanding of auditing processes (certification preferred).
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to read SDS sheets and approve chemicals.
  • Experience developing and managing departmental budgets.
  • Intermediate MS Office skills.
  • ISO 14000/ISO 45001 knowledge.
  • LOTO, machine safety, regulatory risk awareness.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Essity Personal Care is currently seeking a Safety Leader for our manufacturing facility in Bowling Green, KY.

The role of the Safety Leader is to lead and role model safety and environmental policies as the department head. As the Leader, you will help continually improve the sites EHS Management Systems with the help of the supporting team members. The Leader will also ensure that the site is meeting all legal requirements related to EHS with the help of the Safety Specialist. As the Leader, you will be responsible for developing the safety department’s Masterplan to identify goals for the year that align with the sites CBN’s and monitor and track those results throughout the year. Identify, support, and implement cost‑saving opportunities.

What You Will Do
  • Lead the I Care initiative and complete training with all affected employees.
  • Lead and coach the Safety team;
  • Drive continuous improvement in the safety systems;
  • Develop and maintain a safety culture within the site consistent with our core values;
  • Achieve and maintain compliance for ISO 14001, and ISO 45001;
  • Develop a Health and Safety vision for the site based on legal compliance, continuous improvement enablers, and continuous improvement initiatives;
  • Providing periodic reports as required and requested;
  • Being informed about and ensuring compliance with regulations related to ISO1400/ISO 45001;
  • Serve as the main contact between the site and corporate functions;
  • Preparing and managing budgets for department;
  • Be an active participant on the site leadership team;
  • Represent the site within the safety network;
  • Support coordination of cost savings activities in the plant and ensure initiation of new ideas;
  • Implement continuous improvement enablers for safety;
  • To develop safety masterplan for all team members that will help improve health, safety and environmental practices for the site.
  • Responsible for reporting Legal Requirements for both Health/Safety, and Environmental reporting applicable to the site.
  • Ensure Environmental compliance is maintained and the site is being proactive to prevent incidents that would harm the environment
  • Track and report waste shipments, water usage, and the overall recycle program status each month
  • Attend annual global safety meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned
Who You Are
  • University degree in relevant field is preferred
  • 3+years experienceworking in a production site
  • 2+years experienceinRESHmanagementpreferred
  • Experience with safety, and environmental systems;
  • Performance evaluation;
  • Experienced ISO system implementation updates and new standards introduced;
  • Root cause analysis skills;
  • Understanding of the auditing process, auditor certification preferred;
  • Effective communication skills;
  • The ability to read and understand the SDS sheets to approve chemicals for the site;
  • Experience developing, maintaining, and correcting departmental budget;
  • Intermediate level knowledge in computer programs (word, power point, excel);
  • Ability to lead and work on a project team;
  • Advanced understanding in ISO 14000/ISO 45001requirements;
  • Advanced knowledge in different areas related to Health and Safety (LOTO, machine safety, regulation, risk analysis, etc.).
