Safety Lead


Atkore, a recipient of a Great Place to Work certification and a Top Workplaces USA award, is searching for a Safety Lead to be based out of our Hobart, IN facility. Reporting to the EHS Manager, this person will be responsible for assisting in training employees on safety policies and practices, conducting regular inspections, generating health and safety assessment reports, and supporting compliance for all EHS guidelines and regulations.


Who we are looking for:


The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1-3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment. Additional experience in environmental, health, and safety preferred.


What you'll do:



  • Perform incident investigations and assist in corrective actions.

  • Conduct job hazard analysis and recommend preventative/corrective action where EH&S hazards exist.

  • Participate and lead team based safety observations.

  • Interact with all departments to assist with EH&S issues.

  • Perform administrative duties for the EHS department.

  • Support implementation of various safety policies and programs.

  • Conduct inspections and identify hazards and potential EHS violations.

  • Assist with providing solutions and intervention strategies for health, and safety hazards.


What you'll bring:



  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment. Additional experience in environmental, health, and safety preferred.

  • Knowledge of or willing to learn Federal/State Regulatory Requirements (OSHA, DOT, EPA, IDEM, etc.).

  • Discretion and flexibility.

  • Computer skills to include, Word, Power Point, Excel.

  • Very good organization and time management skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with many types of personalities.

  • Consistently work under pressure and simultaneously prioritize multiple projects.


After 3 months you will be able to:



  • Use Enablon software platform to manage EHS data.

  • Lead team based safety observations.

  • Conduct periodic inspections for lockout program.

  • Complete job hazard analyses.
