Job summary

Baker Electric in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Safety Intern to support the safety team by applying company policies and promoting a culture of safety first. This paid internship offers exposure to field operations and compliance.

You will assist with safety training, incident response, and site inspections while learning core safety processes and procedures. This hands-on role provides practical exposure to construction safety in a real-world environment.

• Long-term interest in a construction related career such as project management, estimating, operation management including safety.

Responsibilities

• Comply with all safety guidelines and site provisions.
• Partner with safety team for site-specific safety training and audits.
• Assist in safety incidents and administer First Aid as needed.
• Participate in walkthrough audits for safety practices and site inspections.
• Assist with routine onsite activities (equipment, documentation).
• Escalate critical issues to HRM or Executives with recommendations.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Job Title: Safety Intern

Reports to: Safety Director

Location: Des Moines, IA

FLSA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt

Position Description. Partner with the safety team to learn how to apply and enforce company safety policies, work procedures and initiatives to promote a culture of safety first.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Comply with all federal, state, and local safety and health guidelines and requirements, as well as site-specific safety provisions
• Partner with the safety team in the following activities:
  • Site-specific safety training or safety awareness events
  • Monitoring compliance of safety practices throughout the worksite
  • Assisting in response to safety incidents and administering First Aid as needed
  • Participating in walk-though audits for safety practices and site facility inspections
  • Performing routine onsite activities as required by Baker Electric and site partners (i.e., assignment of safety equipment, gather required medical documentation, etc.)
• Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to HRM or Executive Leaders with recommendation for resolution.
• Other related duties as assigned.
