Job summary

M. J. Electric, LLC, a Quanta Services company, is seeking a Safety & Health Representative to administer a comprehensive safety management system for civil construction projects.

This role collaborates with the Safety & Health Department, project managers, superintendents, and craft personnel to promote safe work practices and conditions. Travel throughout the Midwest is required. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926, strong MS Office skills, and 1–3 years of construction

Qualifications

• OSHA/29 CFR 1926 knowledge
• MS Office proficiency
• Strong communication and analytical skills
• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health or Construction Management preferred
• 1–3 years construction safety experience

Responsibilities

• Assist with new hire safety orientation.
• Coordinate, conduct and document safety meetings and on-site assessments.
• Assist in developing and implementing safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state and local safety laws and codes.
• Support OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements.
• Provide safety training and education for supervisors and employees.
• Promote proactive safety by encouraging safe work behaviors and corrective actions.
• Assist investigations with detailed RCA and action tracking.
• Travel is required.

About this Role - Safety & Health Representative

We are looking for a talented Safety & Health Representative that has a passion for quality construction. This position is responsible for the administration and management of a comprehensive safety management system for civil construction projects. The Safety & Health Representative will work closely with the Safety & Health Department, Project Managers, Project Superintendents, and craft personnel to promote and ensure safe work practice and conditions.

What You'll Do

• Assists with new hire general safety orientation.
• Coordinates, conducts and documents safety meetings and on-site safety assessments.
• Assists management in preparing safety policies and procedures; provides support in implementing these policies and procedures.
• Ensures that federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules are observed.
• Works with the Safety Department and ensures that OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements are met.
• Provides safety technical support and education for supervisors and employees. Provides feedback to encourage learning.
• Promotes proactive and preventive safety activities by observing, analyzing, encouraging safe work behaviors and correcting unsafe conditions.
• Monitors safety compliance, creating awareness and set priorities that focus on continuous safety improvement.
• Assists and documents incident investigations to include a detailed RCA, sharing of lessons learned, communicating next steps and tracking associated action items.
• Travel is required.

What You'll Bring

• Working knowledge of 29 CFR OSHA 1926 Construction Industry Regulations.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook.
• Proven communication, organizational, presentation and analytical skills.
• Bachelor's Degree Occupational Safety & Health, Construction Management preferred, or related field equivalent experience will be considered.
• 1-3 years of construction safety experience preferred.
